How about a Halo 4 where you have to travel about the Earth irradiating holdout Covenant who are attempting to entrench themselves on Earth and take over the planet? The Master Chief would have to go from place to place, continent to continent, north to south pole, to help kill off or chase out resistant Covenant. This is assuming that Earth survives, the Master Chief, or other cyborgs like him survive, and the Ark is finished doing whatever it was designed to do. You would have to deal with every Covenant you came across. Since you're not actually moving toward an objective you can give the Covenant your undivided attention. Maybe the Arbiter would work with the Master Chief. In the other Halos you went from point A to point B. You didn't actually need to always confront every Covenant you came across. In Halo 3 we see the MC on foot. He's not arriving in the ship he came to Earth in, and we can assume that he doesn't know where the Ark is when he arrives back on Earth. And even if the Prophet on the ship did know, he wouldn't allow the Prophet, or the ship, to make it there, so he would naturally seek some way to kill the Prophet and destroy the ship. And since we don't know what the Ark actually does we can assume that who ever designed it never meant for it to destroy the planet it was on (for whatever reason). Assuming MC lives, what of the remaining Covenant? Would they just leave, or try to take over the Earth? I would choose the latter and have MC and the Earth forces fight a battle to defend the world from alien invaders bent of taking it over now that war is over (sort of specak). It would be like all three Halos put together, only with little story and more combat in different environments in and around the world. Just a thought.
