I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Yes. But, obviously, it hasn't done a good job if the flood still exsist.

Halo doesn't kill flood, it kills their food! Humans, Covenant, whatever! We're all eqaully edible. The only way to stop the flood is to starve them to death. And that's exactly what Halo is designed to do; Wipe the galaxy clean of all sentient life! Don't believe me? Ask him.

dude!!!

I KNO HOW 2 KILL THE FLOOD!!

u have 2 get them to become canibals so that the halos will kill the floods food which would be the flood itself!!

*****EDIT****This may be dumb, but im just wondering. ok, then how did they live on one of the halos for that long? in halo1 they were released or something. spark said so. So how did they live on the halo for so long and not die? they werent eating anything right?

The following quote is from the level "The Library" in Halo

Why naturally the Flood is simply too dangerous to release, and mass sterilization protocols may again need to be enacted. Of course, samples were kept here after the last catastrophic outbreak...for study. It seems... that decision may have been an error.

The Forerunner kept some samples of the flood alive for study.

The Halos kill everything except Flood Infection forms, which can stay dormant for thousands of years on end.

I am...whimsical today.

I think they were kept by the Forerunner, however it is possible that they Flood entered a period of hibernation?

Right, but they werent eating on the halo were they? so then how do they live? The halos destroy there food so they die.

The Forerunner found some way to keep them alive. It is possible that they were in hibernation. In Halo 2 the Heretic Leader makes comment that suggests that they were frozen.

there is wildlife in the halo's if i am not mistaken. its hard to believe that there wouldnt be any sentient life whatsoever.

Read that. "Of course, samples were kept here after the last catastrophic outbreak...for study"

Wait, who was going to study it? They used the halos, then put the flood on the halo? Somethings not right...

Some people believe that the flood, in its simplest form, is a virus. (For those of you who have read the sequels to Enders Game, think of something like the Descolada Virus). The Forerunner were able to wipe out the combat forms and the infection forms, but they were unable to kill the Virus. Samples would be kept on the Halo for the Sentinels and other Races to study in the hopes that if the flood began to spread again they would actually be able to kill the root cause of it.

The rings wipe out all life in the Galaxy. There are other Galaxies.

Does that mean that the Forerunners lived if they kept samples to study after the ring was activated? Methinks so.

A good point, a good point, they should send a ship of humans to another galaxy. Yes that would solve the problem.
