Why is the tone here so damn hostile? My question was already answered on the first page.
It was answered for you. For others, not so much, which leads to more discussion.

Just seems like a relatively mature debate that expands on your original topic to me.

Love playing custom games?

Well come join Customs Evolved

We are group dedicated to playing custom games, map testing, game nights, etc. Anyone is welcomed to join, and we hope to have as much fun as possible!

This is a company that makes games not drugs, why would we be able to talk about such things? It has nothing to do with Bnet.

Just be glad that we actually have an off topic forum.

Everyone's making generalizations about drugs.

The only generalization being made about drugs that's relevant to the discussion at hand is that they're illegal, and that's the only one that matters.

It wouldn't surprise me, probably because of those idiots a while back who made bomb threads.

Because... they're illegal. As in, against the law. Why would Bungie want to house such discussion on their site?

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

And here we have an example (by this topic's OP no less) of why even hypotheticals are not destined to live long.

I don't know why that should have been locked. It looked harmless enough to me.

Norby suggested smoking weed. And I guess that is bad.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Norberg suggests smoking weed.

Which is illegal in some states, most prominently, California.

Why is that problematic, do you think?

I thought your government allowed it for medical usage? Huh.
I can see some harm coming from discussing illegal substances, in some cases. I've seen some late night flood threads over the years that were alright, with the odd troll here and there, and they were fine. Sometimes, though, it does get out of hand. Why not handle it on a case by case basis like role play threads, bar threads, etc?

In my opinion, H4 threads have done more damage than drug threads.

It goes more like this for Bungie:

They want to give us what we want, because it makes us happy, and keeps us with them. They also want to look good while giving us what we want. So, to do this, they make rules for us to follow. The rules are pretty gray, and sometimes we can bend them, so for the most part, it isn't all that bad a situation.

You see, the thing is, they had to make a couple rules that would make sure they didn't look bad. Now, of course, these rules can't be part of a "gray area" type situation like a lot of the other rules. It just wouldn't work, because these rules are going to make sure Bungie doesn't get into any sort of trouble with the law.

One of these rules pertains to illegal drugs. Bungie is smart, and they know that anyone who is seriously into illegal substances are associated with trouble (for the most part) and are also very VERY smart. These people could use their forums as a means of communication about selling or buying, what is good product and where to get it.

As someone who grew up around this world, I already know that Bungie would be at terrible risk, solely due to the fact that this web site acts like a social networking site. So, Bungie, also taking note of this, decides that, "let's cut our losses, and not risk ANYTHING at ALL, and ban discussion of any illegal substances."

This goes along with the "better safe than sorry" approach any serious business should take when letting the internet dictate how this business appears. Now, I know, it's unfair, because when you were 12 or 13 you made an account, and now you really like it here, and ever since Jimmy down the street smoked you up with a J, you feel like you know everything about wide clef kush. But, you don't.

This is Bungie Dot Net. If you can't get it in your head at this point that here is not the place to discuss these things, they it's probably best that you leave. I don't see it ever changing, and I completely agree. I don't wanna talk about this stuff with you dopes, you all know jack -blam!- about it anyway.

To summarize, Bungie has a name to withhold in the public eye, and they can't have that stuff cluttering up what the public sees. Also, talking about the legalization of illegal drugs is considered political, and that's also against the rules, because THOSE topics always end with someone else breaking ANOTHER rule about being respectful to other users.

So, put your big boy pants on, and go find another place to talk about all that Jazz. If it's too damn inconvenient for you, you must not have wanted to talk about it all that badly in the first place.

None of my governments do so (i.e., neither my city, state, nor national gov't do). :-P

California and a few other state governments do allow medical use, but federal law still prohibits all use regardless of purpose (although enforcement of this is spotty in states like Cali), therefore it's still technically illegal in all states.

What I was getting at is that there's nothing special or prominent about it's illegal status in Cali and I'm confused why that user would say that.
