I was just playing Halo 2 today and I was watching the cutscene where Truth gives Tartarus the index to activate Delta Halo when it occurred to me: what if Tartarus ended up successfully activating halo before Truth reached earth (where I believe the Ark is)? Truth would be killed before he could reach the safe-haven. If Truth actually knew that the halos killed all sentient life, he would tell Tartarus "Don't activate halo until I tell you to (once I'm safe in the Ark)," wouldn't he? His lack of effort to make sure he is safe when Tartarus activates halo makes me think that Truth actually does not know the truth about the halos.

Unless...

Maybe the Forerunner ship Truth is in is the Ark and he knows it. I'm not going to back up this little bit right here as it is just an idea, one that is probably incorrect. But I thought I'd put it out there.

I am going to go with your last paragraph.

If the Halos do activate in Halo 3, that ship could be used to drop its' inhabitants at a planet that is nowhere near the Flood.

he probably knew tartarus would fail, the arbiter and some pissed of humans were on the ring. tartarus thought too highly of himself, he was bound to die.

i agree on the ark is on earth but if the ark protects the people then why didn't 343 say so and in the first mission of halo 3 master chief kills truth because at the end he was on the ship which means he'd kill him at the beginning

I don't know, I have heard lots of people theorize that Truth just believes that Tart. will fail, and thats why he gave him the Icon...but think about it. IF he did succeed, then, he(truth)is screwed. I am really starting to buy into this whole, Forerunner ship=Ark theory. I don't think Truth would "bet the house" so to speak on Tart. failing...he is alot smarter than that...Its just too big of a gamble in my opinion...

I don't think so. Truth expected to be safe before he reached the Ark, and he expected the Halos to be activated.

I agree with you on maybe the ship he is on is the ark. Yet I aso think thatt he could know how long it takes the rings to all fire or warm up. Which if he knew that could give him time possibly to get to the ark or somewhere safe. Thus leading him on the "great journey" which could be coming back. Those are my ideas atleast...

Or, Truth could have wanted Tarturus to fail, knowing that the Arbiter would whoop his ass. Lol, but you never know.

But the Ark is on/is Earth, not the Forrunner ship.

But again, Earth is indubitably the Ark, hence Truth really would have been screwed had Tartarus succeded. Mabye he did believe Tartarus would fail; yet another person not slowing him down. (i.g. Why the Hell else would he let Mercy die?)

Ok. Some people said that Truth knew Tart. would fail cause the Arbiter would own his @$$. But, think about it, at the end of QZ, Tart. was ORDERED by the profhets(sp?) to kill the Arbiter. Now I really don't think that the profhets think Tart. is that much of a panzy that even with the gravity hammer, the Arbiter being tired(from gettin there and at the end he was), and that he had like 5 other brutes to help him that he couldn't kill the Arbiter. The Arbiter would have died from the fall or whatever if gravemind didn't save him. So if he had died, Tart. would have NP activating halo and killing everything.

Maybe, but the only thing there is that in the final level, they deactivated halo only a few seconds before it went off. So that means the halos only take like 5-10min to activate. I'm not sure Truth would risk something like that or take off ASAP (well, he did actually... he left before Tart could even get to the building, he gave it to him at the begining of High Charity level and then tried to leave. But couldn't right away cause cortona was stalling the ship.) So maybe...

He(truth) tried to leave before Tart. could possibly even get to the building, but he didn't because Cortona delayed the lunch.

These are my views and im not tring to flame anyone, sorry if I did =\
