I saw a thread that talked about the frank that won first place in the Halo Planet Halo 3 Cover Contest could be Frankie from bungie and that the back could be a clue of things to come.

bungie said "No, that's not our Frankie. It is likely one of the many free-range Frank O'Connors, running naked and untamed about the internet."

But now the name of the winner has changed and the cover art has not. Maybe those who thought it was a clue were right.

Any thoughts?

Somebody (Bungie?) probably asked him to give his real name to avoid confusion. By the way I just appeared in the Honorary mentions : ) My name is Pascal Giguère.

Here is a post from kenny on that thread:

Hey guys, Kenny here. I just wanted to apologize for the whole Frankie name mix-up. I only used the name in attempt to keep my contact information somewhat anonymous until the winners were announced. I know that some people are curious about the choice of not having Master Chief on the front cover, so I figured I'd give a short explanation. When coming up with concepts for a Halo 3 cover, I was certain that I didn't want MC to be the center of attention since the game has been hinted at focusing more on the crisis of Earth and its existence. Also, I figured that Halo was popular enough to rely on just the Halo 3 logo to get the message across (just look at the Limited Edition case that came with Halo 2). As for the lack of screen shots on the back cover, I knew that most of the participants would more than likely take pics from the trailer, so I went with an approach to give some imagination to the onlookers (not to mention I couldn't make the boxes look right). Anyway, I want to thank everyone at haloplanet for hosting the contest and look forward to working on more Halo related art in the future.

P.S.- My bad for spelling Covenant incorrectly. I'm always critical of my artwork and hate it when I make mistakes. I'll try to post an updated version later along with a Halo 3 desktop using the front cover design.

End of story.
