“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

Mind if I also take up some ad space in your thread? You do? Oh, umm...here's $20. Good? Okay, I'll continue.
I am pursuing a career in Security and Risk Analysis focusing on information and cyber security and was wondering if any security experts in the games industry could shed some light on their work. I am not asking for technical details, but rather means to an end--how can someone like me become someone like you?
Should I actively pursue certificates outside of school, and if so, which ones would be most valued in the games industry? How does security differ when working in the games industry than in other businesses? I do not expect to land a job right out of college working in security for a game developer, but where should I start? How might a college undergraduate like myself gain meaningful experience in the field? Most professionals that I have talked to have recommended consulting as a great way to enter the field as you gain a lot of experience in different settings in a relatively short period of time. Do gaming companies often hire consultants to perform security audits?
Also, hi Urk, nice to see you back.
