There are better ways to deal with quitting a game than simply removing it from the menu.

Don't worry, we have a good plan for dealing with quitters. It is on the list.

is it sending quiters to blue screen until the game is over???? or at least 5 min.......if its a legit reason you wont mind because your to busy to play anyhow........

Don’t get mad if I flame you because you cannot spell, or because my three year old has better grammar and etiquette than you.

There are legit reasons to quit, most of the time you would just turn off your console though, also its not going to hurt anything to just park your spartan til you return, so why have the quit function in Ranked games?

AGAIN I AM SPEAKING ABOUT RANKED ONLY.

Quitting has always been an issue, most of the time its someone passing the time til more friends jump on. Sometimes its a problem with cheating or just getting owned.
A lot of the time it is legitamate. But if they really are quitting they are going to turn off thier xbox 360 so WHY not remove it, FROM RANKED GAMES ONLY!

Yes only remove it from ranked games, hopefully that will slow the derankers as well.

I know most of the people that quit are just passing the time until friends jump on, but why not make a BTB game that never ends, so to speak, just let people jump in and out at anytime, that way they can kill, grab flags, plant bombs drive vehicles around while waiting for thier friends to jump on.

But I do feel that quitting a game should be removed from RANKED gametypes, there really isnt a point in having it there.

Discuss your views.

So instead of quitting out at the begining of the game, you want them to have to betray to get booted out? Yeah...No...I'm good on that.

LOL I mean the ranked match, not the game.

LOL I can only image, once you put Halo 3 in your 360, its a Halo 3 machine FOREVER!

Well in my case it will be for a long while

Remove quitting. Is this a joke? The reason quiting is so bad, is not the quitters themselves, it is the matchmaking system. On regular hosts/servers, if a person quits someone can take their place. In matchmaking a person quits, no one can take his place, so it basically makes the whole match even, unless someone else quits..

Why do people quit? I disagree about most quitting becuase they lose the match. Very rarely do I see an even match where one team scores than everyone quits. It's usually 1-2 people quit right at the beginning of the match. This tells me they do not like the map/gametype they have, It's a LEGIT quit. Should we be forced to play matches we dont like? That's ridiculous. The problem is again the matchmaking system. After 1-2 people quit, in a four on four match, half your team is gone. It's no fun, so you might as well quit.

Most gamers play halo to have fun. It's not fun getting matches you dont like. It takes way too much time to create a custom match and invite friends. So what alot of people do, and even I do sometimes, is hope for a good match I like, if I dont like it, I'll quit.

What Bungie should have done, is give us a choice for servers in unranked where gamers who just want to have fun with the maps/gametypes of our choice can use. Those who are serious about rank can use the matchmaking system.

Metroid Hunters On the DS has no quitting, only way u can leave the game is by turning it off. And it will show on ur Stat card how many times u quit.

No Ds players are complaing about that.

Ok, well we are halo 2 players.

Who cares? Halo 3 players will put up or shut up.

That is a good point, but I am talking about MatchMade games "ranked" ones, and if you are playing "Ranked" then chances are that you are not going to quit cause you dont like a map.

In unranked games it doesnt matter as much its for fun and practice.

But in MM or Ranked games, I still think its a wad that people quit cause of a map they dont like.

Personally I am sick of Warlock and Elongation, but I dont quit.

I myself agree you should not be allowed to quit a ranked match all it is doing is ruining the experiance for other players who want to play. Yes you should be able to quit custom games and unranked games it wouldn't be fun if you couldn't. Also maybe Bungie could do something like EA in Modern Combat 2 where you have to press "A" to respawn that way if you had to go to the bothroom or something you would only die once.

I see your point marsman. I guess, I dont care about ranked or unranked. For a game like BTB skirmish, you cant play that unranked. You either play BTB slayer, which isnt anything like BTB skirmish, or you play team training which is only 8 players, and all team games slopped together So basically get even less choice when playing unranked, so you might as well go ranked. I think the average Halo 2 gamers dont care about ranked, they just want to get on and play. They only have 1-2 hours to play, so they will quit matches they dont like to save time. Like I said earlier this would be solved if there was an option for us to join/create servers in unranked.

As others have stated. people would still turn off their xbox, it's kind of a hassle, but it's better than playing 5-10 minutes on a match you dont like. Or they would kill their teammates to get ejected.

Quitting wouldn't be a problem if the game were based on servers.

That makes sense, I know the feeling of limioted play times, I only get online once my boys are down for the night, but boy OH boy does it suck to have quitters when I am on a limited schedule.

Its a pain, I am just glad to hear something is being done about it. I dont know what they will have in store but knowing something is in the works is cool.

powerofthepeople I have been looking at it from more of a stand point of derankers and griefers than anything, seeing it from that side does make a bit more sense, I was getting narrow minded there. It just seems like if I dont have a party of four I know we are going to have one or two quitters. It happens 9 times out of 10.

If you don't like it when your teammates quit, why don't you just quit the game to find a new one? Your rank will usually go down, but you'll generally be able to win it back if you really do deserve that rank.

FFMagee, I cant speak for Zawas. But it's mainly because someone can just take the quitters place, when they join the server. Or you can invite one of your friends to join your team on the server when someone quits. Quitting is never a problem on servers.

If you want to get technical. Alot of the people are quitting becuase they dont like the matches/maps they are being forced to play through matchmaking. On servers you chose the map/gametype you want to play. So there wouldnt be these kind of quitters.

Quitters shouldn't be able to restart another *ranked* matchmade game untill the one they just quit out of finishes. Obviously this only includes matchmaking and wouldn't effect custom games. There should also be some tally or record in the players history showing their frequency for quitting.

People that quit just because they don't like the map or gametype need to be punished for ruining matchmaking for everyone else. Waiting for another 10 mins before they can start another game might make them think twice.

Um, what about people who actually have other priorities that take precedence over Halo? And besides, they could just turn the xbox off.

Actually probably a fixed time penalty of say 10 mins. People who quit because they need to go about there "real" lives wouldnt be affected much by this if you think about it. It's the people that quit *all the time* would feel it. Their rep would suffer. The people who quit out, just to start another matchmade game. Those people didn't quit because they had life priorities, they're just selfish.

A rule about a time penalty wouldn't stop people from leaving the game, if they had to leave anyway. They won't be starting another game up after that right? Because they left to attend to their real life concerns anyway.

This rule purly targets those which quit out and start matchmaking again.

don't play ranked games and quit to ruin it for others
if you know that you may have to quit, then dont go into ranked games
i understand if it's an emergency, but that's the only reason you should quit
the ONLY time i ever quit a ranked game was when my brother went to the hospital. Everything else can wait.
Also, they are real people you are playing with and you should be conciderate- just because you don't care about rank doesn't mean that they don't.

also, someone had the idea of not spawning until you hit a, but that would just cause a team that has the lead to go and die and sit there and not spawn for the rest of the game
