Within hopefully a month I plan to get XBL, have no experience with it, and figured I could get better information from people who actually use it over the biased opinion of retailers. Generally, I would like to get the following questions answered:

Pricing- I know there is a monthly fee to pay XBL, but do games commonly have their own seperate fees and if they do is it real expensive?
Setup- Is it difficult to get hooked up?

Pricing:

XBL cost $50/year (no other fees)

No other fees for games. some games have premium downloadable content. but most downloadable content is free. they always warn you before you download something that cost.

Setup:

A piece of cake just have a credit card or debit card with visa/mastercard logo handy.

I recommend going out and buying a router. Get one that has the XBL compatiable logo. I strongly recommend linksys.

XBOX Live has a few plans:
1) Free 2 month trial that comes with select Live games (no headset)
2) 3 month starter kit that comes with headset and demos, $40.
3) The BEST offer: 1 year sub. with headset for $50.

Live is very easy to setup, they give you instruction manuals with just about everything that says XBOX Live on it. Easy stuff.
