Sometime at the beginning of the year, that or at E3. I think they might be doing a marketting experiment. Can they build enough hype and make enough sales in the few short months before the game goes gold/is released. Kinda like is intial hype good for sales, or is intial hype that falls then builds over time better?
Maybe they have a clause with Microsoft or Activision or both to not release info on their game until Halo 4 or Black Ops 2 or both are released and holiday season is over.
I don't know really. Those are my 2 theories.
I'm hoping for something really soon though. ...I don't see any particular reason for them to do a marketing experiment with their main product. Seems dangerous, you do that sort of research on the side.
However, I doubt that they will wait all the way till E3 2013. Although Reach was teased at E3 2009, we didn't see any footage from the game till the VGAs of that year in December where we were first introduced to our protagonists. We saw our first campaign footage and our first introduction to the general gameplay and changes from Halo 3 in January's Game Informer, and our first glimpse at Multiplayer happened during March I believe.
As a result, I entirely expect Bungie to do something between December and January, it just makes too much sense given what they have done before.
