I only realised his the other day when playing age of mythology. It was giving descriptions of weapons and i came across the meaning of mjolnir i mean i have never given much thought to it. I cant remember exactly but it said that thor uses his mjolnir to aid him against the fianl fight between the gods. Maybe but i very highl doubt means that master chiefs mjolnir is meant to do just that be a instrument of the destruction of the evil gods (in this cae the covenant). If somebody has age of mythology loaded on their computers could you please check this out for me and post the exact descirption.

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

I had a fish once. His name was Phil... and he ran away on christmas. But that's ok, because I'm sure he's in a better place with the other fish, like the whales and the dolphins.

if it is to finish the final fight against the gods then would this not be the forerunners? considering they are god towards the covenant? interesting.

If you read the books, John (Young Chief) knows that MJOLNIR is one of the weapons of the acient Gods, so we know all this already.

Mjolnir is a hammer the Norse god Thor used as a weapon.

Mjollinir is the name of Thors Hammer...Only a truly righteous being could wield it and it is involved in Raganork which is the death of the universe in Norse mythology...its just a cool name...it means nothing

Actually, any non-Spartan would kill themselves if they tried to use it. Read Fall of Reach people!!!

Mjolnir is the hammer of Thor, Norse God of War or something - son of Odin. Thor would wield his hammer - Mjolnir - and smite whatever it was he was fighting, lighting would erupt and so on and so forth.

The battlesuits are named "Mjolnir" because they are a weapon the Spartans use to battle the Covenant menace. Mjolnir is an instrument of destruction as you said, in Halo: The Fall of Reach, when the Spartans are given their latest Mjolnir (the one with shields) John (the Master Chief) thinks to himself that Dr. Halsey (the scientist in charge of Project SPARTAN and MJOLNIR) has finally given him and his Spartans the weapon to fight the Covenant.

* Its not a cool name.
* Ragnarok is the Norse version of Armageddon. Where the Giants and the Gods clashed in the final battle. The Gods died and the Earth was reborn I think.
* In Norse Mythology, only the God Thor could wield Mjolnir. Once a Giant King tried to steal it from him, he did, but only for a while. Thor set off his with his God friend Loki and Thor kicked the Giant King's ass with the hammer.
* In the Halo series, only Spartans can use the Mjolnir armour because of their augmentations, mainly the one that involved strengthening the bones, that allowed them to survive the ferocious reaction speeds of the armour. When a marine tested it, his bones were shattered when he attempted to move his arm.
