...sigh.
Would you seriously run around in Halo 2 with a single magnum, if you had the choice of using a battle rifle?
The magnum (currently) takes 13 shots (that means you have to reload inbetween headshots!) to take somebody down. This is ludicrus balance, compared to basically any other weapon.
The Halo 1 pistol may be slightly overpowered, but not as much as people think it was. A 4 shot kill would be a perfect balancing point.
It needs to have the scope, otherwise it's only a mid-range weapon that is stuck combating the spray weapons.
The main point is, there needs to be a weapon (prefferably starting with) that is good in all situations, but not the best in any! This makes the game balanced, and not leaning towards spawn points, luck, and weapon whoring!
Problem solved.
that is what a Battle Rifle is used for
not a pistol with a scope
especially when there isnt even a physical scope on the pistol
a pistol is a side arm, not main weapon
the magnum from Halo 2 is what pistols should be like and it was a very good idea to create the Battle Rifle to replace the pistol with a so called scope on it that was way too powerful the be a pistol
do you even know that it only takes 3 shots to kill a person at minimum in Halo CE with the M6D Pistol
that is less than the Battle Rifle, which takes 4 minimum
the spawn kill on XBL would be a lot worse with a M6D Pistol
lets get serious the Battle Rifle was the perfect replacement to the M6D Pistol
it was a rifle, it was realistic, and it actually had a physical scope on it
