HDR lighting..does that mean for once metal will be shiny in halo 2? you can see ebads of sulight on your gun? hmm..what about rain and rainbows..? We saw it in the trailer, the chiefs mjolnir should be well cool in HDR :D

i believe hdr lighting merely enables you to create light coming from different directions. that and it can diffuse light i believe.

basically, it's dynamic lighting.

HDR makes light seem more realistic, for example, the grunt sign on the trailer seems to glint when the sunlight hits it, or the sun behind the MC when the covenant cruiser passes above. It just makes everything seem more, real, and the lighting the trailer showcased has to be some of the best i have ever seen :|.

HDR is a new lighting techinque. it is used in games like Counter strike: source, half life 2 and other shooters coming out. normal lighting is only using 8 bit colour range i think and HDR is using 32 bit colour range, resulting in more depth, better lighting, more real etc. There will be other new graphical improvments near the end of 2006 going into 2007 with directX10 coming out.
