I was so pumped when I read about how in halo 2 you could destroy drop ships, but then I discovered in the game that you only shoot the weapons off, which is super lame...

Personally, I don't understand what was so hard for them to program; if you hit a rocket against a Phantom, should it not be broken?

Regardless, I do hope we can destroy Phantoms this time around. This would be because I'd like to take those damned things down a peg... thinking they can fire at me and get away with it...

Regardless of how big a letdown it was, at least you COULD shoot the guns off, unlike Halo 1.

Who knows, maybe we will in H3.

I was just thinking about that actually.

yes, i want actually destructible dropships, not just the turrets. also, if bungie thinks it fits the game, i would like to see flyable dropships in game, if only for one level. imagine the potential of the maw, but with a pelican.

Think about why destroying a big, heavy dropship which falls to the ground and is thus unmovable would be a good idea. I'll give a hint: what if it blocks the exit? If the Phantom on Metropolis could be destroyed, the one in front of the Marine-held building, what if it landed in front of the entrance?

meh, that's the way the ball bounces i suppose. I'd rather take fully destructible dropships over some minor annoyances playing campaign. it's called revert to last checkpoint :p

Just work your magic so that the Dropships don't fly over potential exits?

I'd LOVE do destroy dropships in Halo 3, and let us fly them! The cheif can fly the bloody things!

tell me this, how would you not script something like that? you have to script everything in a single player game, because if nothing is scripted, nothing would happen, in game or for the story.

I've flown them in CE and honestly all the dropships are way too bulky to be any fun in campain. Atleast on Halo 1 and 2's levels.

Now if we're talkin a city 3 times as big as New Mombasa, with sky scrapers, and you can fly all around it shooting down banshees and Phantoms. I can see that being alot of fun...

I very much doubt that every level wil be like the one in the demo. There almost certainly will be stuff that could screw it up.

Let me get something across. I like the idea of destructable dropships. I do. However, not at the expense of having to restart, or if it looks completely ridiculous, scripted, or both. I'm just going to wait for Bungie to say something.

Thats something to do with the fact that Bungie didn't deisgn the levels so that modders could have fun with them.

Personally, i'd prefer it if people wouldn't edit the games that I worked hard on.

Anyway, i'm sure that bungie can sort stuff out like decent handling, suitable levels, etc...

They deffinetly should make Phantoms destroyable I mean in the new HaloCE the dropships are destroyable so why should the phantoms not be.
