Think about why destroying a big, heavy dropship which falls to the ground and is thus unmovable would be a good idea. I'll give a hint: what if it blocks the exit? If the Phantom on Metropolis could be destroyed, the one in front of the Marine-held building, what if it landed in front of the entrance?
That's where less linear gameplay comes in.
I very much doubt that every level wil be like the one in the demo. There almost certainly will be stuff that could screw it up.
Let me get something across. I like the idea of destructable dropships. I do. However, not at the expense of having to restart, or if it looks completely ridiculous, scripted, or both. I'm just going to wait for Bungie to say something.
