If good looks could kill, I'd be a weapon of mass destruction.
Q: Hey, what did Hitler say to the black jew?
A: Get to the back of the oven.

Does anyone else get the impression that the Precursors and or Flood (new/super flood perhaps?) are being set up to make an appearance in the future Halo titles in the reclaimer trilogy?
It seems to me that 343 wouldn't waste their time with the presentation of Precursors in Forerunner novels only to have them present in the saga of the past.
While its possible that the above may be true, and the Precursors are only characters/plot devices to explain the flood and the actions of the Forerunners 100,000 years ago and that they have no place in the current events of the games, the line spoken by the Primordial at the end of Primordium seems to indicate otherwise: [paraphrase] "We are the Flood. There is no difference. In a hundred and one thousand centuries(<possible error on author's part?) unity again, and wisdom. Until then, sweetness." [paraphrase]
So I see this as one of three likely possibilities:
1. The Precursors are, again, only story elements of the past to explain the actions of the Forerunners, and the possible motivations for the Didact now (as in, his anger)?
2. The Precursors/Flood will come into play, but not during the Reclaimer Trilogy. Perhaps following, in an all new saga (assuming Halo continues to do well, and 343/Microsoft has planned that far ahead)
3. Precursors/Flood will come into play in the Reclaimer Trilogy. As hinted by the Librarian that she's "preparing [the Master Chief] for what is to come," but being interrupted by the Didact before she can finish explaining to the Chief, is she perhaps referring to the return of the Precursors? The resurgence of the Flood? Both?
While it's possible she was simply referring to the Didact and the Composer, I just don't hold this as very likely considering Chief already KNEW of the Didact and his threat to humanity. But it seemed like the Librarian (being the Didact's wife and lover [at one point at least]) doesn't necessarily want him killed, just stopped from harming humanity.
So why does Didact want Forerunners back? Why does he want to turn all humans into Prometheans? Why does the Librarian want to stop the Didact from doing so, and genetically ascends the Master Chief?
Well, perhaps the answer is they want/need the means to fight the Precursors/Flood, but disagree on how to do so.
Didact is a Forerunner first and foremost, and has always somewhat opposed humanity, but recognizes the power they represent, so why not use them as forces to fight the Precursors and reestablish the Ecumene?
The Librarian however has always viewed Humanity as special, and perhaps wants to combat the Precursors via other means?
"Humans are the greatest threat to the galaxy," the Didact said [paraphrase]. Now perhaps he's speaking of humanity and its destructive nature. Or perhaps he's referring to the mantle and the fact that they are about to be tested by the Precursors/Flood and he knows they are going to fail, and the galaxy will perish as a result. Hence why the Didact wants the Forerunners to reestablish dominance as he feels the Ecumene will have the means to combat the Precursors and save the Galaxy as they had originally done millions of years ago* (according to Cryptum and Primordium, although this may be contradicted by Silentium in the near future)
This is all speculation on my part, but I hope you enjoyed the read!
