People just bypass it there anyway.

That's half the reason I suggested it.

But they don't currently allow that. So you don't think private groups should be allowed to customize the filter as of now?
I think that I can very easily see myself agreeing with Bungie's decision either way.

"It's outside the mains and isn't subject to many main forum rules already. Let 'em do it."

and

"No. This is our website, and it's our belief you shouldn't be using that that language."

are both equally logical and sound in reason, in my opinion. However, if I had the power to push Button 1 or Button 2 (with the former activating the customization, and the latter shooting it down), I'd click Button 1.

Then you shouldn't disagree with the idea of allowing private groups to bypass the censor if they do it anyways. It makes it more convenient for the groups. Plus adding a way to add words to the profanity filter would be cool, perhaps even phrases.

Wow. You really like to whine when things are inconvenient for you, don't you?

Why do you have to edit a language filter? Cleverly made sarcastic answers are way more fun to read.
I'm with this. Not swearing is half the fun of a good post!

The Black Chapter

They do. If Admin want to ban someone for using certain words or terms, they do.
If admin want to ban people from bypassing the filter, they do.

Bypassing is easy enough as it is, and in PGs I see bypass more often that -blam!-.

I don't have the ability to bypass the censor with my keyboard.

I like the idea. However there are already scripts that bypass the filters in PGs but still censor on the mains.

An easier, more convenient method is preferred.

Some people do a poor job in their wording without swearing. Some mods, members, everyone does a sub par job sometimes. But if they were in private groups, and mods had the ability to toggle the option, why not?

This is a completely idiotic argument.

Why is your completely stupid idea of people using profanity because they can't think of any other words even relevant? Why does it matter?

I can already bypass the filter in private groups. I do it all the time. Why shouldn't a group be able to customize its profanity filter?

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

The Button

Pretty sure this has been discussed before but not recently.

OT: This should be a feature but I guess we have to wait until Achronos decides to release the New Hawtness(I'm going to call it this just to spite the web team).

There's also the idea that the current system is a bit out dated, so a majority of the words a user may bypass will be unfiltered in a future update perhaps.

I think for most groups this could work, but there's a small handful where this would be a terrible idea (probably more).
Its like giving kids a sword to play with, people are going to get hurt, so the best thing to do is just not give anyone a sword.
Who is getting hurt?
