While variety in characters may be somewhat amusing and fun, it would and could potentionally ruin a great game. The multiplayer in halo is perfect in the sense that you can get better and perfect certain aspects such as tactics and jumps. Adding a grunt would mean changing the dynamics of many levels, same goes for hunters. It could take away the competitive edge that halo harnesses so well. Anyone who was able to make it to higher levels legitly knew that the elites definatly had a disadvantage, in being easier to get shot. However the disadvantage was not that great so they could stay in the game. Hunters would not fit in the gameplay and niether would brutes. Weapons such as the jackel shield would also change the gameplay completly. Imagine coming throught the bottom doorways in Zanzibar completly shielded. If its dual wielded you would also have an smg firing at you and a br behind it. How ridiculous would that be? So basically certain weapons would fit, but i think jackel shields would slow down the fast pase gameplay and change the simple tactics. The added characters would also completely change nearly everything, the only possible characters to fit in gameplays would be the spartan, elite, possbly marine. However the option of being able to change armor doesn't sound to bad, why not being able to change the chiefs armor somwhat like visor color or giving him a different helmet all together.
I agree with you on the player models and the jackel shields, i think it should only be Spartan and Elite player models, anything else gets out of hand. I do not however like he idea of having a different helmet and such.
