In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

I've spent the last two days playing Halo 4 and I've had enough. I was hoping not to see another Reach but alas, I don't get this luxury. I'm debating whether it is even worse than what Reach was. It's laughable.

Halo 3 is always going to be the smartest of the children. The bright sunspark which always shines through. It is just unfortunate it has almost met its end.....

Regardless, here's to another two years on Halo 3! Hooraah!

Who's with me?

Can't be with you, Holme. There is nothing that can compare to Reach in the Halo universe. It truly wears a helmet. As far as 4 versus 3, is an arm wrestling match to me for now. Am almost finished with it, but, have to say, it hasn't let me down. Are there things I'd change...heck yes. But in reference to...that (cough) other "game"...not comparable to me.

3 is way better than 4. 4 simply feels really different. Reach felt worse IMO, but I was very good at Reach. I could stat pad because the game was still paced where you weren't getting hit from every direction.

In Halo4 I haven't figured it out. Only map I can play good is Haven. I've only played 4 or 5 of the 10 maps, but it just feels mindless...even more so than call of duty.

It's funny because I'm good at halo and decent at call of duty, but this combination is terrible for me. I got outplayed by a friend of mine named Dire who is terrible at halo 3 and Reach.

The lack of consistent spawning may be my biggest complaint.
I feel exposed to all directions when I try to play my normal aggressive style. It feels like the second after I get a kill I am forced to camp or run to the edge of the map. Normally in Halo 2 or 3 you can push to their spawn as your shields respawn, but in Halo 4 their is no strategy with spawns.

I've had one or two games that were very good and the rest I felt like a fish in a barrel.

---------
4s art style is great. That is one thing I love about the game. However, it could be blinding me to how bad this game really is.

Off topic, but it's laughable how dumb the Banshee and Wraith AI is. The Banshee's were driving into walls during the second to last mission and getting stuck. I was teabagging and circling them, but they didn't get out lol. Also, if you stay just outside the Wraith's turret range it will stare at you, but do nothing. You can shoot it with a ghost repeaters to no end. It won't boost out of the way, and it won't shoot you.

BTW A lot of people told me this was like Halo 2 in terms of difficulty. I found it much easier than Halo 2. The only thing that made it difficult at times was that you had to get through 50 or so promethean enemies before a checkpoint, but taking it slow like Halo 3 and Reach works quite well.

The 8 months when I didn't play Halo 3 have caught up with me. I feel lost and confused. I could
really use someone to play custome games with.

I like halo 4 but it's nowhere near as good as halo 3.

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

I'm with you guys. Halo 4 isn't bad or anything, but the multiplayer has a lot of the same flaws as Reach; instead of making 4 precision rifles that all have problems, they should have made 1 perfect and consistent one. There's no incentive to win, and most of the new ruletypes (CTF, Oddball, etc.) all suck. The map design isn't terrific aside from a few (I do love Haven, and the Valhalla remake is pretty good as well). I'll give H4 another shot when it has the 1-50 system implemented, and I'll probably play it for 2 more weeks right now, and it's back to Halo 3 for me.

I don't think another Halo game can ever compare to Halo 3. I can't quite place what makes it so good; the crazy physics engine (best in the series if you ask me), the fun maps, even if some of them suck, the wonderful custom games, the forge options.......Halo 3 is just special , and it's never going to be topped. It will be a sad day when it's taken offline.

Camo in Reach is the new armor lock. Retards are abusing it and camping corners. Worst is that it appears if they stand still with it they are completely off radar. I hate AA.

Also, thruster pack sucks. They nerfed it too much since E3. I'm just going to use Promethean Vision now.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

I am. I can't even believe I am agreeing with you. There are people who already found ways to get through walls, abuse grenades(heavily, I have been hit by 10 the one time in a 4v4 game not exaggerating either), custom options suck, forge sucks, and no campaign theater.

By the way, who the -blam!- thought ordnance drop was a good idea is beyond me. Literally it is saying "It is okay to camp you don't need to go out to actually get the power weapons."

completely agree, also, the camo AA pisses me off and gives noobs the ability to crouch in a corner with it active with a shotgun or plasma pistol.

Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

I'll be staying with Halo 3 too. Halo 4- it's just not that good. I'm really dissapointed in how 343i smothered the Halo formula with gimmicks. I will certainly keep an eye out for what the MLG playlist brings but in it's current state it's like a Sci-Fi MilitaryFPS. If I wanted that kind of gameplay, I'd play CoD.

. I'm debating whether it is even worse than what Reach was.
Ever since playing yesterday, I am debating this too. There are so many game breaking glitches in Halo 4 I just found that are just laughable. The weapon balance people claim to be there isn't there. The AR is beefed up and in a playlist called slayer pro(how is this pro if a noob weapon is in there derp?)

The fact that they beefed up the ar makes the game seem more noob friendly. The ar was made a niche weapon on purpose so when you start out with it you want to scavenge for a different weapon. This caused people to pick up weapons and encouraged map movement. Now it seems non-existent in this one. The lag compensation is worse than it was in Halo 3 and Reach. Whoever did the netcode for Halo 4 seriously dropped the ball.

Whoever played the campaign who else was just pissed off at the last level? I don't care if it was enjoyable. The fact that they ripped off from one of my favorite sci-fi series, star wars, just pisses me off. That part was something that would define Star Wars whenever you thought about it. When I saw it in Halo I seriously just had a WTF moment. Not only that but the ending doesn't make any sense. The Chief was holding the bomb and cortana saved him from it? But he was holding the bomb how the -blam!- did she accomplish that and how did she magically teleport him in space. At least Reach's made sense even if it broke canon. The fact that none of Halo 4's campaign made me go "wow!" and instead "Been there done that in a different game." Pelican mission was a obvious rip off from new alexandra but the funny thing is New Alexandra was actually better. LNOS was a better space mission than the last level at least I know it wasn't a rip off and you got to dogfight seraphs. Also, WTF is up with Chief and Cortana? It seems like really bad and weird fanfiction between those two, now. I seriously thought at the end they were going to kiss because they definitely hinted at it like they were. Also, you have to read the books to understand some of the story. This part makes it laughable. You should never in a video game do that to your audience with a story because they will feel dumbfounded especially since not everyone who plays the video game reads books.

The fact for multiplayer that you don't have to learn the maps to know where the weapons are pisses me off. This game doesn't show who the better player is anymore. The reason I wasn't bored of Reach the 3rd day was because I was trying to learn the maps. I am already bored with Halo 4. Forge sucks, custom games suck, and the matchmaking system is just like CoD. There are no more even starts in the game at all. At least in Reach there was one playlist you could play that let you have a even start. Everyone started out with sprint and DMR. That was in the beginning, too. For some reason 343 can't wrap their head around that with their slayer lolpro playlist. Don't get me started with CTF and Oddball. Those playlists are unplayable now.

Spartan ops. Worse than firefight there is nothing else to be said. It lacks the replayability.

Theater. *Looks at Halo 3 and Reach's theater* Wow look at this nice design. Easy to use and accessible. *Looks at Halo 4 theater* WTF just happened? In fact what is up with the UI in the game? It is like the people who made windows 8 made the design for the game. Also, no campaign theater just lol.

Whenever I hear "This game reminds me of Halo 2 or 3!" I just laugh. I don't know how a game that doesn't take skill is reminding you of a game that too skill and felt like a Halo game. Reach felt like more of a Halo game even with it's crappy bloom system. Why do we even mention bloom in Reach anymore? It already has a zero bloom playlist. No sense beating a dead horse, anymore.

Anyways, I am done ranting. I am still debating if Halo 4 is worse than Halo Reach. Oh yeah the music really sucks in Halo 4. The worst out of the series. The maps are also the worst except for the Valhalla remake. I mean they are really bad, the forge maps in Reach seem like good maps. Seriously, cameo or anyone else, if you are looking for another good Halo game Halo 4 isn't one. Don't even waste your money on it. I will stop here as I could keep going for another hour. *ahem* wall glitches.

Along those same lines, what the heck happened to camo being a powerup? That's what made it balanced. It's been boring since Reach anyway, since you can't move quickly with it (which makes it worthless for obtaining power weapons). And don't even get me started on the Damage Boost+Saw combos. The saw is the most unbalanced weapon ever in Halo.

yeah powerups aren't even powerups anymore. The camo and overshield in halo 3 made it a strategic play for teams to go for the powerups and they were game changers a lot of the time. Now with reach killing that and halo 4 re-enforcing it, you got low ranking halo 3 noobs running around with all these BS AA's

imo H4 may have some things I dont like, but the gameplay is solid, and if you dont like AAs, play slayer pro.

CTF, Oddball, KoTH, BTB, and slayer pro are all fine playlists, and actually very fun.

At this point if you dont move to the next game you are just being stubborn.

Slayer Pro is fun but is annoying with the lack of weapon spawns and the ability players have to sprint away when they are one shot. Not to mention most of the slayer pro maps i've played so far have little to no power weapon spawns at all.

PWs spawn in the start of the match, then 120-360 seconds afterwards.

Sprint is hindered almost completely if you are shooting them. If you continue to shoot at someone sprinting, they move only just faster than normal speed.

H4 now>H3 now.

That pretty much sums up my opinion. However, Halo 3 does not have the lows that this game can have at times.

I played a game of complex 3v3 it started. We were winning and two of them quit out. Well it decided to bring in a bunch of people. Turns out it brought it the campiest tryhards. ALL FOUR then camped the top of the base ALL GAME and had sniper and dropped ordinance to themselves. They would just back away and switch if they got weak and because of Halo 4 they just respawned directly next to or below their teammates. Literally the only pushes they made from up top were when they had rockets or scattershot. It was worse than almost anything I experienced in Reach. The teammate I got was terrible running out there to give them free ordinance and all four of the other team just camped the game out. It was one of the few times I saw the timer run out before 600 points. Instantly, I saw how the map was broken. The spawning puts you near your teammates making it impossible to push for any kind of map control without coordination. Zero individual skill.

Also, I noticed in Halo 4 I still get paired with terrible randoms and get matched against full parties/clans. This started from Reach. In Halo 2 and 3 it didn't do stupid crap.

This is why Halo 4 like Reach fails to be competitive. It's a rollercoaster because of its lack of a decent ranking structure. One game I go 30-2 and the next I have an enemy team of camo campers slowing the game to a deadlock.

True, it's not as bad as Reach but it's still annoying. Especially if you are in a 2v1 and lose the second fight because the 1 shot guy was sprinting away.

Offtopic, but I really enjoyed the Campaign of Halo 4. Well worth the price tag, because the encounters were fun, diverse and engaging. I beat Legendary Solo and co-op on two accounts so far and plan to do at least two more runs (maybe a mythic run). It's not as hard as some users are saying. I found it very forgiving because they place ammo everywhere.

Little things I noticed:

1. Banshee AI is retarded and runs into walls and frequently gets stuck.
2. There's a certain range you can be in a ghost where a wraith will stare at it and take damage without moving or shooting at all. It's just outside the turrets range.
3. AR is effective on low ranking knights. Less than two clips if in the right hands.
4. Many of the levels and fights can be skipped by simply running past them. On the jungle level there are trees that you can climb to get past most of the fights. Also, level 1 is literally a 9 minute mission. Way too easy and short IMO. I haven't seen anything quite like Nightfall which I've done in 3 minutes and 40 seconds, but I haven't really looked for glitch videos.
5. There are no additional enemies from solo to co-op like there was in Reach. Co-op goes extremely fast.
