Team markers/objective carrier confusing on red team.

So someone else IS bothered by that! It's so confusing! Probably it's just because I've played so much classic Halo, but it really bothers me being instructed to kill something that has a blue arrow over its head.

And defending the guy with a big red arrow above him. What makes it a bit more confusing is that on red team your normal team markers are blue, but when a teammate picks up the flag/ball it turns red and when the other team (blue team) gets the ball/flag they have a light blue arrow above them, like an ally.

Halo 3's system made more sense. Maybe if it went the whole way and had the same colour markers as your team all the time it would be okay, but then the radar might have to be changed... it just doesn't make sense

lol

I haven't gotten H4 yet, but I'm still trying too. H3 was my first Halo game and I grew to love it a lot, it was as close to perfect any FPS can ever get imo.

From what I have seen, these are my H4 complaints-
-Armor Abilities
-Lobby System
-No 1-50 (if 343 follows through with their promise then hopefully this is fixed)
-Scoreboard changed
-Too many medals pop ups
-Killmarkers and red Xs are gone.
-Custom game designing gametypes (less options)
-New infection 'flood' sucks. zombies are overpowered
-Missing fun gametypes, VIP
-Autopickup flag on CTF

Im sure I'll find more once I actually get my hands on the game, but I'm hoping 343 doesnt take another step backwards by not fixing some of the stuff above.

I have heard comments in this forum about H3 being taken offline - I don't know that this is true for the near future. Am I wrong?

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

That must create difficulties when dealing with long-range attackers.

I am. I can't even believe I am agreeing with you. There are people who already found ways to get through walls, abuse grenades(heavily, I have been hit by 10 the one time in a 4v4 game not exaggerating either), custom options suck, forge sucks, and no campaign theater.

By the way, who the -blam!- thought ordnance drop was a good idea is beyond me. Literally it is saying "It is okay to camp you don't need to go out to actually get the power weapons."

I think I posted this in another thread, but certain maps can be broken. Complex is extremely easy to camp the main central base and can become insanely unfair if all four players stay on top or inside it. The respawn and ordinance makes it too easy for them to camp there all game. You can't get close because you will be team shot for moving towards them and they have height advantage as well as views of every direction.

Also, camo has been very annoying when used by coordinated teams. It creates frustration as bad or worse than armor lock.

Forge is ok. The menu is annoying, but I'm getting used to it. It's basically just an updated Reach forge with a few map specific objects and the open boxes and crates from Halo 3. In Reach you would hold down the left stick to make more precise placements. In Halo 4 you must use edit coordinates. Magnets help, but there are times I want it phased on one spot and equally high to another object. Missing the ability to precisely place objects by holding down the left stick is very annoying.

I still wish they had a more open space and the ability to use more than 100 of a specific category. You can't make maps much bigger than those in Reach because the maps are cramped and have unnecessary structures built in.

However, Halo 4's campaign gameplay is great. Despite some failings in Banshee and Wraith AI I still found it near perfect. It's a beautiful game to look at and a lot of hard work was done well. I miss Marty's epic soundtracks, but the lack of nostalgic tracks does not ruin the experience.

The prometheans really added something new and there were no broken checkpoints that made the game frustrating. Every engagement felt new and there was little grind. There was a lot of nostalgic fights like narrows structures, pyramid fights going up floor by floor and a gondola. The mech added something completely new and the space mission was an updated warthog run without the annoying grind of Long Night of Solace. Between all the new and old I felt it was everything I would want in a halo game. I honestly think it's the most fun I've had in any halo campaign.

1. We call know COD didn't invent sprint, load-outs, ordinance drops, and repetitive gameplay with little skill involved. But in todays age of games this is the easily more recognizable game to use it and compare it to.

2. Halo 4's MP feels nothing like previous halo games, you can't deny that. Even Reach had closer gameplay to what we are used to and that's why everyone said it sucked.

3. What happened to the Halo we've known for almost 10 years. Everyone spawns with the same weapons and its a battle for control of the weapons and the best spots on the maps. Nobody even bothers to pick up these weapons laying around the map because the DRM will do just fine.

4. Objective games are gone. Wheres 1 or neutral flag? Where is the option where you cant shot and drop the flag? No territories, VIP, Rocket Race, Land Grab, assault, team doubles, multi team.

5. No weapons on the map have completely changed the way this game is played.

6. Customs Games and File Share are non existent.

7. A lot of people on here are probably young and don't remember the days of Halo CE, Halo 2 and even Halo 3 in its prime so a lot of these changes don't matter to them but to the hardcore fan they do. Skill and teamwork has been taken out of this game.

A lot of 343's lead positions and employees did work for Treyarch and Infinity Ward. I remember Frankie saying how addicted he was to Black Ops because of the consistent unlocks and challenges. They certainly had some inspiration from Call of Duty just like Bungie got some of Reach's ideas like AA from Shadowrun. Even some of the employees it got from them under Microsoft Studios worked on Shadowrun. Promethean Vision is very similar to Enhanced Vision found in Shadowrun while things like Jetpack and Regeneration Field are respectively similar to the Glider and Tree of Life from Shadowrun. Killcams and Ordinance were definitely inspired by call of duty.

Most annoying is the spawning. Halo no longer has strategic map control. Well there are a few spots that give advantage to campers like Complex's central base, but that's a fault of poor map design just like Swordbase was unbalanced by controlling the lifts. It lacks the flow of maps like Narrows, The Pit, Turf, and Midship.

here's a video that helps explain some of my previous post

Things alike:
>AA some near clones: Tree=Regen field, Glider=Jetpack, Enhanced Vision=Prometean Vision:
>AA some nerfed versions: nerfed gust = thruster pack, nerfed summon = sentry gun
>Bloom
>Crouching increases accuracy

So halo reach and halo 4 moved closer to call of duty and shadowrun, but it's way more balanced. in shadowrun a lot of these abilities were extremely overpowered and class based.

Dude I'm all with you. Halo 4 is just a terrible game made by clueless developers. I can't bare the stupidity that was put in that game. And when the Halo 3 servers go down, it'll be a sad day for everyone that doesn't have a JTAG to use Xlink Kai on it. Damn you 30 ms ping patch! We need more Halo 3 players though. I want to relive the glory days!

I'm with you guys. Halo 4 isn't bad or anything, but the multiplayer has a lot of the same flaws as Reach; instead of making 4 precision rifles that all have problems, they should have made 1 perfect and consistent one. There's no incentive to win, and most of the new ruletypes (CTF, Oddball, etc.) all suck. The map design isn't terrific aside from a few (I do love Haven, and the Valhalla remake is pretty good as well). I'll give H4 another shot when it has the 1-50 system implemented, and I'll probably play it for 2 more weeks right now, and it's back to Halo 3 for me.

I don't think another Halo game can ever compare to Halo 3. I can't quite place what makes it so good; the crazy physics engine (best in the series if you ask me), the fun maps, even if some of them suck, the wonderful custom games, the forge options.......Halo 3 is just special , and it's never going to be topped. It will be a sad day when it's taken offline.

It was just one of those games. Its the only game I've ever played which I could play all day and all night and not get bored. Halo 3 had so much to offer in terms of gameplay, maps, gamemodes, and player reward.

I'll never forget playing the BvW playlist, the incrediably fun D-EXP weekends, and the awesome custom games. Even after five years and over ten thousand games, I can still sit down and play Halo 3 all day long and not wish I was playing anything else.

It was the game to start, and to end it all.

. I'm debating whether it is even worse than what Reach was.
Ever since playing yesterday, I am debating this too. There are so many game breaking glitches in Halo 4 I just found that are just laughable. The weapon balance people claim to be there isn't there. The AR is beefed up and in a playlist called slayer pro(how is this pro if a noob weapon is in there derp?)

The fact that they beefed up the ar makes the game seem more noob friendly. The ar was made a niche weapon on purpose so when you start out with it you want to scavenge for a different weapon. This caused people to pick up weapons and encouraged map movement. Now it seems non-existent in this one. The lag compensation is worse than it was in Halo 3 and Reach. Whoever did the netcode for Halo 4 seriously dropped the ball.

Whoever played the campaign who else was just pissed off at the last level? I don't care if it was enjoyable. The fact that they ripped off from one of my favorite sci-fi series, star wars, just pisses me off. That part was something that would define Star Wars whenever you thought about it. When I saw it in Halo I seriously just had a WTF moment. Not only that but the ending doesn't make any sense. The Chief was holding the bomb and cortana saved him from it? But he was holding the bomb how the -blam!- did she accomplish that and how did she magically teleport him in space. At least Reach's made sense even if it broke canon. The fact that none of Halo 4's campaign made me go "wow!" and instead "Been there done that in a different game." Pelican mission was a obvious rip off from new alexandra but the funny thing is New Alexandra was actually better. LNOS was a better space mission than the last level at least I know it wasn't a rip off and you got to dogfight seraphs. Also, WTF is up with Chief and Cortana? It seems like really bad and weird fanfiction between those two, now. I seriously thought at the end they were going to kiss because they definitely hinted at it like they were. Also, you have to read the books to understand some of the story. This part makes it laughable. You should never in a video game do that to your audience with a story because they will feel dumbfounded especially since not everyone who plays the video game reads books.

The fact for multiplayer that you don't have to learn the maps to know where the weapons are pisses me off. This game doesn't show who the better player is anymore. The reason I wasn't bored of Reach the 3rd day was because I was trying to learn the maps. I am already bored with Halo 4. Forge sucks, custom games suck, and the matchmaking system is just like CoD. There are no more even starts in the game at all. At least in Reach there was one playlist you could play that let you have a even start. Everyone started out with sprint and DMR. That was in the beginning, too. For some reason 343 can't wrap their head around that with their slayer lolpro playlist. Don't get me started with CTF and Oddball. Those playlists are unplayable now.

Spartan ops. Worse than firefight there is nothing else to be said. It lacks the replayability.

Theater. *Looks at Halo 3 and Reach's theater* Wow look at this nice design. Easy to use and accessible. *Looks at Halo 4 theater* WTF just happened? In fact what is up with the UI in the game? It is like the people who made windows 8 made the design for the game. Also, no campaign theater just lol.

Whenever I hear "This game reminds me of Halo 2 or 3!" I just laugh. I don't know how a game that doesn't take skill is reminding you of a game that too skill and felt like a Halo game. Reach felt like more of a Halo game even with it's crappy bloom system. Why do we even mention bloom in Reach anymore? It already has a zero bloom playlist. No sense beating a dead horse, anymore.

Anyways, I am done ranting. I am still debating if Halo 4 is worse than Halo Reach. Oh yeah the music really sucks in Halo 4. The worst out of the series. The maps are also the worst except for the Valhalla remake. I mean they are really bad, the forge maps in Reach seem like good maps. Seriously, cameo or anyone else, if you are looking for another good Halo game Halo 4 isn't one. Don't even waste your money on it. I will stop here as I could keep going for another hour. *ahem* wall glitches.

I totally agree with you 100%. I personally liked the campaign, but that was just me. Most likely because it wasn't bad like Reach, but it certainly wasn't no Halo 2 or ODST. There was nostalgic moments I guess.

The only good thing I would have to say is that I didn't even buy Halo 4! My brother did - so I didn't exactly waste my money, but that's not the point.

I've been playing Halo since day 1, right since CE - I've been a diehard fan. I've read the novels, played and learned a lot about every game, yet a diehard fan didn't want, or even consider wanting to buy a Halo game? All previous Halo's I've been anxious for its release, but not Halo 4. I didn't look at anything about the game prior to release because I didn't care. Now why is that? What would have changed so much that I, and many others alike don't want to buy a Halo game?

That much is obvious. It seems all developers care about these days is competing with CoD, and I don't know why. CoD was never a good game to begin with, it's just the trend. What I don't understand is why developers think that the best way to compete with a best seller is to copy a best seller. Why not make the game the way which made it a best seller all those years ago?

It confounds me as to why not.

(All this is like me copying a books content, but just changing the characters, situation, and events to make it different. It doesn't work.)

PWs spawn in the start of the match, then 120-360 seconds afterwards.

Sprint is hindered almost completely if you are shooting them. If you continue to shoot at someone sprinting, they move only just faster than normal speed.

Nope. I got a running riot perfection early today from using infinite sprint and sword (Infinite sprint, because that's not Call of Duty at all). Being shot slows you down by about 30%. Not enough to stop double beat downs, or sword rushers. Still hasn't been fixed.

Yep, Sword+Sprint combos practically broke Reach all on their own, and then 343 decided to leave them in. Not only that, but now we can sprint all the time. That logic is clearly irrefutable, because it's 343. "Trust us, it feels like Halo"tm.

Alright, cameo, after some real QT with the game, landing 1/2 the achievements, etc... 3 is truly better and "more Halo" than 4. I was caught up in the moment and really wanted 4 to fit in with Chief's saga. The long, downwards slide continues. But I still maintain that comparing 4 to Reach is like comparing a 4 year old Chevy Malibu to a unicycle with no seat.

I agree with the long post above. I do not understand how people think Halo 4 is like Halo 2 or 3 at all. It's also annoying to hear all the people call this the best halo ever. Halo 2 and 3 were far superior to Halo 4.

Idk about no individual skill gap. It might be lower, but its still noticeable imo.

Complex is the worst map of any halo ever. Abandon just has unfair spawns. Switch it to purple/green spawns instead of gold/beach and it would play much better imo.
