What could the 'formidable covenant Ai' cortana speaks of be?
please post suggestions as it is an intersting topic:

EDIT: My mistake, it is not on high charity but on the forerunner construct itself.
Forgive the title.

exact quote: "I'll do what I can to slow the launch sequence. But there's something inside the ship, a presence that's fighting back. For a Covenant construct it's unusually formidable. No time to admire the view; Truth's Phantom has reached the Forerunner ship."

I Reckon it was multiple AIs sharing thier memory crystals, thus acting almost as one excep thier seperate, it's like dual core processors or SLi graphics cards set ups..maybe theres mroe than two even. Also it could mean that the covenant have captured a UNSC AI, building a new one upon that..but back to my dual AIs, normal UNSC Ais use memory crystal, for all we know covvie Ais could use a different material enabling more than one AI being able to exist on the same memory?

Yeh that sounds plausable, but cortana wouldnt have refered to it as formidable i reckon. Somehow i think it is a corrupted human AI, warped by the views of the covenant

Cortana encountered resistance. That doesn't necissarily mean an AI.

I think is it the gravemind level on halo 2, she says something along the lines of:
"For a covenant AI, it is pretty formidable".
It is the area where two beam rifles are located at the base of a ramp entering a large circular room in which you must use teleporters to get to the other side without dying to drones or the flood.

It was on the Forerunner ship, not High Charity. My Guess is that the Forerunner ship is really a Jjaro dreadnought called Manus Celer Dei

This would mean that the AI aboard it would be...

Give me a D...

See the whole thing here.

It definately sounds like the construct is in the Forerunner ship, not High Charity, meaning it could be a Forerunner construct.

thankyou :) I seemed to base it as an AI as two key elements were said
-construct (343 said cortana was a construct in halo 1) Though this is more likely to be the ship itself
-presence, cortana would most likely refer a presence as another AI, as her links are in the network of the ship.

OMG, thats it! The Halo Universe is the continuation of the rebirth of the Marathon Universe, so Forerunners were humans and the ship's A.I. is Durandal! Tehwowzors! Eh, not likely, nevermind.

I am...whimsical today.

I'd guess at a Forerunner AI, which Cortana mistakes for a Covenant AI that is what the Covenant copy their AI's from. It'd make sense to have the most powerful AI in the Covenant's main Operations center.
