New gametype. I saw the update, but we have no hints as to what it could be. It could be anything other than what we already have.

no, cause what made zombies frightening? Unless the zombies have flood avatars... Or perhaps a game like "ghost". Backwash, one invisible guy who can only meele. Everyone has only pistols. No sheilds.

Maybe its a survival gametype with AI flood?
Just you and friends have to fight off loads of unarmed flood with your shotgun/sword...

Im guessing Zombies...or....A gametype that for some reason makes you a flood infection form

  • 06.30.2006 5:48 PM PDT

well, it could be the survival mode where you have to listen to Brittney Spears and N-Sync songs for as long as possible.....

Not really, if you have 10 zombies following you, EVEN IF THEY DON'T HAVE FLOOD AVATARS, and you keep shooting them off yet they still are closing in, it DOES build suspense.

Don’t get mad if I flame you because you cannot spell, or because my three year old has better grammar and etiquette than you.

Zombies maybe. But that really isnt new so I dont know. Maybe its a spin off like a infected game, where you become a flood and keep fighting.

They also said there were many laughs and screams... So it was probably screaming because something jumped from a corner (flood do that...) and then laughing after owning it or something. I'm more curious about this narrow canyon level he was talking about...

meh. There were narrow canyons in Halo games before. I'm not very surprised. The MP is what will have the lasting appeal anyway.

I'm really hoping for something akin to a "Seige" gametype.

I've been running some ideas through my head about it, but hopefully I'll be able to compile them and post a couple of illustrations here soon to help with what I'm thinking about..

On the other hand, I also think that it would be really awesome of Bungie to include a gametype called "Infection" into the Halo 3 multiplayer component, where one player is essentially a Flood carrier, and one by one the other players are caught and infected until the last man standing wins the round. That would be pretty killer!

Think about that one: Flood carrier players running around the map, using keen timing and close quarters to press the trigger button and explode like a balloon (I suppose they could respawn afterward), sending out a third-person swarm of loose, collectively-controlled popcorn Flood after the human players. They can be killed as easily as the computer-controlled monsters, but once one catches you, you're done for! They could scale walls, boxes and the like, too, just like in the Campaign. ;D

I was just thinking you'd have spartans(or elites) with swords and make the people switch teams when they got killed by the sword man. . .

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each brave fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, or flags.
-The Next War

maybe a bot game with an invisible juggernaut like Ghost...

OR... maybe its a gametype with a screamer intalled so that everytime you get a kill, a monster pops up on the screen and goes "Booga booga booga!!"

  • 06.30.2006 7:41 PM PDT

"I'm hungry..."

You know what would be cool? Having a gametype where you just played normal slayer, except, there are flood running around unchecked, making it a three way battle. This is not an "OMGZ ADD BOTS" thing. It doesn't have to be bots, just the regular campaigns AI. (The flood don't have to capture a flag or whatever)

I really hope it is a zombies gametype. PDZ pulled off an "infection" gametype! (though they used retarded pistols!)

maybe its like far cry instincts' predator mode. one person is fast and jumps high, and the rest have to get to the safe area or whatever.

gotta be zombies, they described the general mood of the game, and anyways i remember them saying a while back that if they could force people to switch teams they would make a zombies gametype...

they could have very possibly put it in halo 3

Yes, i think them making people switch teams is no problem......

It HAS to be zombies. It's the only game that could spwan shear horror and humor all in one game!
