Subject: Which halo 4 rifle is overpowered?

I agree with I Lucky Punk because he is correct, but the light rifle is better if you know how to use it.

I've only used the battle rifle and it seems pretty deadly. Had enough of the DMR for the time being to even consider using it, despite the rumours of it being overpowered.

I'm in love with Jesus and proud of it!

BR is slightly underpowered at longer ranges.
Lightrifle is powerful, but is balanced by slower RoF
DMR is the most balanced of the rifles
Carbine is fast, but needs to be 7sk and not 8sk IMO

They are all somewhat balanced, but the Carbine needs a buff or the DMR needs a RoF nerf to even it out a bit more. That's my opinion.

If the carbine was 7sk it would beat all rifles in all divisions and even tie the light rifle at long range when the light rifle is scoped.

  • 12.03.2012 7:42 PM PDT

Just please buff the Storm Rifle.

Carbine is less effective at longer ranges, that's just a fact. If the RoF should remain the same and the Carbine retains its current 8sk, what about buffing the auto aim for the Carbine? That's one argument I heard before I got the game, and I can somewhat agree that the Carbine is harder to get kills with than the others. The Carbine is currently my ToD.

I've played with the carbine and think it is pretty good the way it is. I have out shot snipers and DMRs across the map in Ragnorok (pardon the misspelling) and think it has a very small center circle that it usually hits. Plus it beats all weapons at close range and the only way to easily beat it is if you actually know how to use the light rifle.

In the right hands the DMR is very efficient. It calls back to the Halo 1 pistol. I'm totally fine with this. A good multi-purpose weapon that has a very high skill ceiling is fundamental to a Halo feel to the game.

That being said, I find them all fairly balanced. I don't get killed any more with one than any of the others. If anything it is vehicles and ordinance that kills me the most, not the mid-ranged rifles.

They all seem pretty balanced to me.

I didn't understand the magnitude of the DMR's unfair power until I tried to use the LR on Haven Infinity Slayer. There's no point, since the DMR shoots faster, is more accurate, and kills quicker. I only started killing people when I switched to the DMR. It needs a significant RoF nerf.

Plasma, pretty much everything you said is inaccurate. I have the light rifle and it kills the fastest when zoomed, it is the most accurate when zoomed and the RoF is a nerf to balance out these attributes.

Carbine is only good as a third option... or playing objective gametypes.

"Hello, I am Ring Moniter 666 John Cena".

I never use the carbine because it's too weak, and I never get killed by people using it. Seriously, I use all the other primaries except the carbine.

The DMR is SLIGHTLY overpowered(needs to be SLIGHTLY less effective at close range, ie lower ROF). The Carbine is underpowered, while it has the highest ROF and no bloom, it has lower accuracy(and damage, but the accuracy is the issue here) than ALL the other precision rifles, so much so, that it only beats any of them out at close range and maybe close-med range. Other than that, the rifles are pretty well balanced, now if only we had more maps.

I out shoot people across BTB maps that have snipers and DMRs when I have the carbine. I think all rifles are good the way they are.

I'd say DMR but then again I've noticed that if you get hit while zoomed in the reticle jumps a mile.

Also anyone remember when everyone -blam!-ed that the BR would -blam!- the DMR?
No.

I still mainly use the BR even when I know I'll do better with a DMR.

  • 12.03.2012 9:53 PM PDT

Sure, there are small differences between the starting weapons, but my deaths have come from a good variety of them. Considering there's seven different primary weapons, I think 343 has done a good job keeping things fairly balanced, while letting players start with weapons they are most comfortable with.

DMR easily.

Carbine is underpowered. Only situation in which it worked for me was when someone surprised me around the corner, he was close enough to where spamming the trigger was an effective tactic that saved me.

Why do we need exact replicas of every weapon?

I hate the idea of having every weapon balanced. I like to pick up weaker weapons and try getting kills with them from time to time. If you think the DMR is powerful and you want a powerful gun use the DMR.

DMR is slightly more useful than the other guns, it's on par with the BR at mid-close range if you have a good aim. Outdoes the Br at long range.

It could do with a slight nerf, but I don't see it as a big deal as it's made out to be. This is coming from someone who now only switches between BR and Carbine.
