Subject: Halo 4 made me realize that im not a halo fan; im a Bungie fan.

It's obviously not your average Halo game. New company, new story, new weapons, new loadouts, new new new. This is going to be a new series and a new line of gameplay, why not suck it up and give it a chance? I think it is a good game in my own opinion and many of my friends agree. Sure they do add a crap ton more maps for BTB and add some more game modes but hey, its the start of a new game altogether with some of the basic ideas of its predecessor. Cut 343 some slack man.

no offense, but i can't cut them slack for taking halo in a direction that i don't think will benefit the series. unfortunately unless i see halo 5 moving away from this new style of play, i will not purchase it but rent it instead, just for the story.

I went into Halo 4 with an open mind. By the time I had finished the campaign and Spartan Ops, I realized that I had not had any fun. No moments that stuck out in my mind. No memorable characters. No open areas for vehicle usage. No humor. It just wasn't fun for me. I won't list all the reasons. I think people have already listed many good points.
If people enjoy Halo 4 then good for them. I expect more for my money. If this is an example of what 343 is going to give us, then this will be my last Halo game.
I am eagerly awaiting what Bungie gives us next. I just hope they remember the fun factor. I miss talking grunts.

So I am just misguided? I don't know my own feelings of like and dislike?

Shut up.

You may be thinking " no ive played halo 4 and it is not bad at all!" Well my dear friend its not your fault, but you are wrong; this is a bad game to its core.
*facepalm*

Just... leave.

For once we agree. Joris that is your opinion.

5) 343 acting as if Master Chief was and all spartan II's were wearing that same armor that he was wearing in Halo 4 as a poor excuse to dump continuity and change his appearance although its not bad, but nobody changes their armor in a 4 year cryostasis tube.

Actually, false. Nanobots were used to upgrade the armor. Chief's campaign armor is explicitly labeled as being heavily modified. The halo 2-3 Mark VI is entirely canon and it is in MP. The prologue cutscene was more a summery of the war using halo 4 models then a hard canon battle.

Halo fan since the release of the first game on the original xbox, before multiplayer happened and a relentless amount of MLG players came and trashed Halo games therefore making me feel bad about saying I like Halo.

Oh okay when you put it that way it makes sense.
They didn't exactly establish those things in the game to well, at least I didn't notice any content in the game clearly stating that. I mean I'm pretty sure it was in the novels and what not, but since I didn't know that 343 could of at least took the time to explain this instead of leaving people in the dark.
I don't want to sound ignorant, but for people who are fans of the series and have not read all the lore or may have missed some supporting content that could have explained it, they should have at least put in something that you can find in the game that would explain that being the case.

halo 4 worse than reach?

HA. Thanks for the laugh buddy I needed it.

343 may have a crappy website and stats handling.. but the game is good. and the graphics.. are phenomenal.

How is it worse than Reach? At least Reach had the most balanced gameplay. With the really fast paced combat and overpowered weapons in H4... you might as well play CoD.

Also I feel the engine in Reach was far better, and there was a lot more detail in the models.
Nothing was a painted texture up in Reach on that game.
Where in Halo 4 textures barely render properly and the Draw distance is so minimal objects, scenery, and enemies barely render a few feet ahead of you.

I am a hardcore fan that knows a lot about bungie and enjoys shooters, rpgs, and strategy games. I also enjoy fast food. =) Bungie Rocks, AOS>

I Disagree with but i will agree that the campaign was bad but only because sergeant Johnson wasn't there

1. We call know COD didn't invent sprint, load-outs, ordinance drops, and repetitive gameplay with little skill involved. But in todays age of games this is the easily more recognizable game to use it and compare it to.

2. Halo 4's MP feels nothing like previous halo games, you can't deny that. Even Reach had closer gameplay to what we are used to and that's why everyone said it sucked.

3. What happened to the Halo we've known for almost 10 years. Everyone spawns with the same weapons and its a battle for control of the weapons and the best spots on the maps. Nobody even bothers to pick up these weapons laying around the map because the DRM will do just fine.

4. Objective games are gone. Wheres 1 or neutral flag? Where is the option where you cant shot and drop the flag? No territories, VIP, Rocket Race, Land Grab, assault, team doubles, multi team.

5. No weapons on the map have completely changed the way this game is played.

6. Customs Games and File Share are non existent.

7. A lot of people on here are probably young and don't remember the days of Halo CE, Halo 2 and even Halo 3 in its prime so a lot of these changes don't matter to them but to the hardcore fan they do. Skill and teamwork has been taken out of this game.

Blatantly false information here.

2. Halo 4's multiplayer IS very similar to past halo games. There are still power weapons on the maps, they are just in drop pods, but they are still up for grabs for anyone.

3. Power weapons are used ALL THE TIME and there is tons of weapon variety.

4. Half of those gametypes you listed were very rarely played and not even popular. Further more the playlists will be updated and added to ALOT. We've already seen 2 or 3 new playlists added into the mix since launch.

5. No weapon in Halo 2, 3, or reach completely changed the game either. So what, no single weapon should or would "entirely change" the game that just ridiculous.

6. A flat out lie or uneducated statement. Both custom games and file shares ARE in halo 4.

7. There is plenty of skill, teamwork, and strategy still in the game.

While I personally loved Halo 4, I do admit that something felt different about it, though I can't really place my finger on it. It could really be psychological but I am not sure.

its better than reach. halo reach had a bad campaign story but i still enjoyed it. but not every game is a huge success you have your bad games and the good ones. i prefer halo than the rest of the shooting games like Call Of Dick because it tries something different to the rest ahhhhhh got Call Of Dick from a drunk guy from a party it was funny

343 made to many changes to the game I'm saying this early but
I think halo won't last as a primary game in my xbox. I don't
enjoy matchmaking like before. I don't know maybe I'll change
my mind but at the moment I have negative thoughts.

Oh no! How dares 343 introduce innovation to my Halos! Everything needs to stay exactly the same!

Look man, while i agree that the story is sort of -blam!- the gameplay is still tight and frankly that's all that matters to me.

its not innovation when you take features from other generic fps' and turn halo into one of those generic fps'. halo has become generic with its loadouts and perks. thats not halo. you can innovate without adding these.

i thought the facial animations were roughly the same between reach and 4. the company that did them in reach did a really good job. the models looked a bit better in 4 but the lip synching was off in some scenes.

'Were it so easy'

in the campaign i found that there was nothing really new in terms of game play, what i mean about that is, is the little events that happened was pretty much the same as something else to a previous halo game. the example that comes to mind is when u board the lich, its like when u board the scarab in halo 2, the first part of the last level was a -blam!- version of long night of solace. there was nothing too unique in the story at all.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Chess has remained the same for over a thousand years. If someone wants to suddenly change the rules, they invent a new game, they don't try to pass it off as the real thing.

And if Chess is to be evolved, its natural evolution is hexagonal chess--which apparently was popular during the thirties, according to Wikipedia--not Chinese Checkers, just because it's popular. They don't even have the same rules, characteristics and style.

There is only one thing of innovation in all of Halo 4. Oddball passing.

That is the only thing I can say that gave me any joy out of Halo 4.

... But why is there a DewXP promotion if there's XP caps?

  • 11.13.2012 3:39 AM PDT

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.
