Okay, i just read this thing from Iceman Assassin with him saying and i quote, "the only way to stop the flood is to let halo activate" unquote. That, is most definitley true. However, i would like to build on that. I have heard some people say that if the rings are activated, then the Earth will be destroyed. I am positive i heard that in Halo 1 as well. Well, if and when the rings activate, Earth will not be destroyed. Why? Because we know from playing Halo 1 and 2 that the rings have been activated before. We also know that they destroy humans and covenant and whatever else the Flood use for food. When the Halos were activated, evidently Earth was not harmed because there are still billions of humans on it. So, this means that if the Halos are activated again, Earth will not be harmed. So, my only question is: How will the world end, seeing as Cortana says it at the end of the trailer. My thought is it won't end because she has not actually seen the end because she cannot use time travel. She is only guessing and thinking that it will end. However, could it be possible that she is saying that this is the way Master Chiefs world ends? Just a thought

Any comments or ideas?

The rings kill all sentient life, where did you hear they would destroy planets from?

If you wanna see an airplane cemetery, why don't you just find an old airplane and look at where it goes?

There's a difference between a world and a planet. Earth will still remain, but the world will end. The term "world" is subjective, so it can mean a lot of things.

Maybe it doesn't mean the entire world/galaxy thing but it just means the fall of civilization, there would still be some survivors somewhere to repopulate and rebuild in a different way. ( if that was already implied I apalogize I'm tired)

Unless there is protection against the rings......

BUT also, how did the flood survive? Shouldn't they have died when the rings were first set off killing there food and starving them to extiction? That would mean that forerunner purposely had the flood on the rings AND made it so that they could survive there! But why?

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

For future study.

When the rings activate, it has a distance of 100,000 Light Years for each ring, to destroy all "Sentient Life", not planets like the others said. But, that means no life left in the GALAXY once their food is gone!

I think that maybe the trailer alludes to a dream sequence. Perhaps the Chief has been knocked out or the alternate reality itself is really the message. What I'm saying is, since the suit links directly with his nervous system, that Cortana or another entity (Gravemind) could easily project a video or alternate reality altogether onto the chief's visor or directly into his mind. Since Bungie said the trailer takes place ~1/3 of the way into the game, perhaps it's just a warning, a forcast of what could be future events.
