Yeah, I was really looking forward for the ATV in Halo 2.

I hope it is in Halo 3

I'm sure they're already trying it in again, but I remember it didn't make it last time because it didn't quite fit into gameplay, so here's hoping!

The mongoose would be a great addition to the Halo vehicle lineup, the only reason it got cut from Halo 2 was that it didnt work well with the Warthog and Ghost, but if the player had the option to "turn it off" Bungie wouldnt have to worry about it not being compatiable.

I don't know if you know this, but I remembered reading something that had to do with the ATV's removal in H2. It was because of the physics engine, or something like that. Anyways, no ATV, because there's a Warthog.

I don't think that there should be an atv, what has an atv got to do with anything about fighting, unless he's escaping or somthing but still that wouldn't fit in the Masterchief is like 1000 lbs, thats gotta be 1 hell of an atv!!

and if there are a lot of pedestrian vehicles like that i think that that would make it more like a JAMES BOND GAME which would suck

BUT i think that it may be cool if like there is a hidden atv somewhere allthough i doubt that bungie would go through all the trouble to make a vehicle that only so many people will find and drive

As far as multiplayer goes, I think it will be a good counter to the Ghost. So...yes. JAM!

It couldnt counter the ghost because an ATV cant strafe. I dont think an atv is a very good military vehicle. But it sure would be fun to drive fast on.

I think the ATV would have a purpose in Halo. A speedy, compact vehicle for ferrying/towing light supplies, scouting, and for Marine snipers to get into position. It's the military of the future, they've got to have cool futuristic new innovations.

As for you, well, the ATV would just be a 'fun' vehicle, not necessarily a vehicle you charge into combat with. I was thinking off-roading, or zipping to point A to point B really quick. The ATV is kind of what you expect to find in a car dealership in a city map as expansive as the 2003 E3 New Mombasa trailer. With two of them, you could have a street race with someone else.

Being able to use one handed weapons on the ATV would just look cheesy. So at a cost, no weapons.

If you've played some of the Halo 1 custom maps, you know that the mongoose is kickass.

Pros: *One of the fastest vehicles.
*You can hold a gun while driving (which gives you plenty of options when riding it).
*You're a small target.

Cons:*Bad handling.
*No protection on the sides or the front.

It should fit in Halo3 because there will most likely be desert levels and in them desert levels you can use the ATV to escape some drinols if there will be any in Halo3. Or you can use the ATV to escape from five phantoms which are chasing you across the desert platuea because you don't have enough ammunition to shoot out there guns.

Xbox 360: $400
Halo 3: $60
Xbox Live: $50 a year
*Sticking a plasma grenade to a player's face: Priceless
*There are some things money can't buy for everything else there's Microsoft Points.

It would be great alternative to the Ghost ,but as for game physics to the hell with that Xbox 360 can handle what Bungie can throw at it. I hoped the bring back the vehicle line up before the Halo 2 launch. But if were going the be in the game it would have to allow gun shooting. I mean come on all the vehicles have shooting capibilities. Also make it faster than the ghost so that it balanced evenly into the gameplay.

It's an unbalanced vehicle. There's no way to implement it without ruining the game.

GO AND JERKOFF IN THE TOILET, the mongoose is balanced by the ghost. Obviously you do not know the first thing about balance. So you're saying that if the mongoose is in Halo3 that the game will be ruined, thats a load of crap you JERKOFF.

Exactly, its all flat..and if those ARE 'real things out there' like Bungie said, I wouldnt mind a fun and quick ride to my next destination.

First off, I at least hope that we see the Mongoose appear in the Halo 3 Campaign as some kind of scouting vehicle, or even as a really cool, fun means of escape in a harrowing situation, like when the Pillar of Autumn was exploding on the Maw. With the sort of extreme draw distances tthe engine can spit out that we saw in the teaser trailer, there's no doubt in my mind that Bungie couldn't have any reason to give the player a HUGE point A to point B leisure drive somewhere in the game.

I believe that Bungie's main reason for pulling the plug on the Mongoose was because of balance issues. With armed vehicles like the Ghosts and Warthogs, an ATV didn't seemingly make much sense. If it is implemented into Multiplayer this time around, I really hope that there is no turret weapon attached to the Mongoose -- that would just be stupid -- but instead the player is allowed to use any single-handed weapon at hand while driving it, like the SMG or pistol.

I think the ATV didn't work out because it was supposed to be basically a human version of the ghost. That's one of the big reasons why no one liked the spectre; It was basically a covenant version of the 'hog.

For crying out loud, nobody I know (personally) wants or cares about having a human version of the ghost. I certainly don't. I like the ghost just fine. make a NEW vehicle, instead of copying the ghost into a human skin.

Here's my plan for the ATV. first, make if fast, make it manuverable. maybe make it more likely to flip over if you turn too hard, but I don't know about that. I'd have to play around with one to see if that would work. anyway, the driver can't shoot, and the ATV itself has no weapons. instead, it has a little flat piece of metal grating on the back, where one additional person can sit, and shoot from. I'd have to test it to see what works best; cause I don't know whether it would be good for the passenger to have 360 degree range, 180 degrees around the back, or 180 degrees around the front. I know he would use his own weapon (think using this baby with a rocket on the back. pretty sweet little tank buster) or moving a sniper from place to place. It would also be a fast flag runner, but it would be pretty exposed to snipers.

I also think the spectre should be slowed down, the turret beefed up, and, while passengers can be killed with one rocket, it should take two to kill the gunner and driver. or maybe just one for the gunner as well. but that's just me.

I was looking forward to it in Halo 2. But then came to my senses and realised that it would ruin the Halo atmosphere. Why would the UNSC have an ATV? I mean, not even the U.S. Army have ATV's. So why would a futuristic United Nation Space Corp.? To me it makes little sense.

I would rather some different variations on the Warthog, like the camoflagued version, snow version, and cage/marine transporter version.

the current military uses atv for god sake they use motorcycles in the desert.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

Why would people put "NO, it would never work"? So you're saying that Bungie is too stupid to make it work. They can make it work. They can find balance with it.

An atv could even be related somehow to the trailer. I mean the chief sure as heck didnt just decide to walk fifty miles to that crater (i know he could have been flown in or somthing) but what if before that you are racing through the desert in an atv or a hog and you are trying not to die because the covie banshees or somthing are chasing you- it would sweet.
