Subject: Why did Bungie get rid of Halo

I never actually heard the reason for this? Why give up the best gaming series ever and continue developing other games afterwards? And it doesn't appear that they got too much money from it because they can't develop big games on their own? I'm sure there's a good reason i just haven't heard it.

If i sound sore about it it's only because Halo 4 is a disgrace to everything good in this world.

Bungie wanted to do something else after a decade of Halo. And from what i've heard they are making a new game that is huge on their own. Yes they work together with Activision, but that is because Bungie needs someone to publish their games. Microsoft did that with Halo.

Also Halo 4 looks kind of repetative. I expected something more awsome.

1. They almost never owned Halo. They simply made it.
2. Microsoft has pretty much owned the rights to Halo since day 1.
3. Making the same game over and over gets boring, you know? Bungie aren't greedy enough to continue making a game that brings in millions of dollars.
4. Bungie's contract with Microsoft ended and since Microsoft owned Halo, it stayed with them and thus 343Inds was born.

So Microsoft sold it to 343?

No, buddy. 343 is just a branch of Microsoft. Microsoft owns and has always owned Halo.

Okay so Microsoft owned it, but who decided on the change, did Bungie give up on Halo, or did Microsoft give up on them?

*Almost always owned. Halo belonged to Bungie before they sold their souls to Micro$oft.

If you want to learn about Bungies development during the Halo era, I recommend watching this.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

They wanted to move on to other things.

Making the same game over and over again isn't very fun. It stifles the developers and they cannot inject creativity into their product. This is why they "left" Halo.

Bungie did when they declared 'independence' from Microsoft. They promised to make 2 more halo games then they would be relieved from their duties with Microsoft. Neither "gave up", Bungie just wanted to not focus on Halo anymore which is what MS would have likely made them do.
