As the veil of lunacy descends, as past and future blend and shuffle, one image appears and flickers through the landscape, wraithlike. It is the Hatchling, the Newborn, walking the path of corruption, a lone figure shining in the toxic shadows. She comes dressed for war, and her wrath is terrible.

address the problems with the shotgun in Halo 3. In Halo 2, I can't even begin to count the times that I've shot someone point blank and it do absolutely no damage to them. The little yellow explosions will show up indicating that I hit them but their shields don't flash indicating that they were not damaged. I'm not a programmer so I have no idea what can be done. One suggestion I've heard is dedicated servers but I'm not sure if you guys can do that. I really just want Halo 3 to be the best since it's gonna be the last and I'd like to not be as pissed off at it as I am at Halo 2 right now. Thank you for your time and attention.

Anybody else no what I'm talking about?

You do know that Bungie probably has already done that, or if not are already on top of that?

The problem happens offline too.

It isn't an online thing. Every single game on the 360 and xbox has a decent shottie. EXCEPT Halo 2.

its happend to me but not a lot maby like 1 or 2 times, but you are probably laggy when you use the shotgun, when you go into a game try checking your connection by pressing the back button, you will see a bar to the right telling you your connection, if its green it means your ok, if it's not then your lagging.

Lag or no lag, the Shotgun needs to be reverted to the original Shotgun in the first Halo(a good sign, Frankie mentioned fine-tuning some of the old weapons from Halo).

A Shotgun does not have that kind of horrendous range that you have to stare eye-to-eye to kill someone(you might as well carry a stick to beat down the enemy with it). Especially when it itself has a pretty long barrel(so it shouldn't have that kind of spread) that fires 8 Gauge rounds, although the length is shorter than Halo's Shotgun. Halo's Shotgun was more realistic, not to mention a reload coupled with a melee attack followed by a shot is smooth when you're being swarmed. You can't do that with Halo 2's Shotgun.

You can't call the Shotgun the same model and make when it has that many differences anyway.

I agree, please bungie make the shotgun feel and act like a shotgun not like a patato gun because honestly who use's the shotgun much in Halo2, thats right people end up trying to avoid it because it suuuucks. The Halo CE shotgun was the bomb and a symbol of Halo unlike the one in Halo2 which is a example of the crappiest weapons ever put into a game; the only good thing about it is that it looks awesome.

The shotgun's problems are not due to lag, but I think it does have to do with latency, there's a difference. Every game has latency, it's what people call 'host advantage'. Lag is when some of your data packets are lost in transit to the host's Xbox. Latency happens because when people connect to the host, it takes a certain amount of time for your Xbox to send the data packets to the host's Xbox (since the host's Xbox doesn't have to do this, it seems like they fire faster, more accurately, etc). This is inherent to all online games. Bungie compensated for it in Halo 2 by making the auto-aim the way it is. Dedicated servers have everyone connect to a server so that everyone has the same amount of latency. We all know how easy it is to tell who has host in a shotguns game because they can magically kill you from eight miles away yet you have to be point blank to kill them.

In Halo 2, the CPU keeps track of every bullet fired. When you fire a shotgun, there is a set number of pellets that are fired and they all have a trajectory. My theory is that in an online shotguns match, there are too many pellets flying for the xbox to keep up with and so sometimes when a shot is fired into another player the game doesn't register it as a hit even though there is a graphical reaction. Once again, I don't know for sure but I really hope it gets fixed.

p.s. My connection is not the problem. Not every problem is due to lag.

dont worry David the same thing happens to me and my friends. Usually if ur the host the shotgun works fine, but if u dont then it sucks and not all of ur shots may count as a hit :/

No, it's called a glitch.

I have had this happen to me countless times, and it annoys the hell out of me. It even happens when I have host on Xbox Live. They definitely need to fix this bug.

Playing online is at this point, is never going to be as satisfying, as a LAN game could be. There is going to be lag in connection, which causes that. Tough, live with it, until it gets better.

If you're not a programmer, then you have no right telling Bungie how to create their game.. :) Trust me, it's a hard issue. Even dedicated servers wouldn't do it. To have the shotgun be "accurate" would require tons and tons of bandwidth in a Shotgun CTF match, etc.

Yeah, the problem is the "balance of the shotgun". Bungie made it hyper close combat... WTF better use your fist. The shotgun is similar to one in Unreal Tournament 2004...

I want a well balanced Halo 3... Halo 2 isn't balanced at all... It's always "get right weapons for the right situation"... The war is something else...

It's not lag. Shotgun is glitchy and unreliable. And thats off host. Client shotgun is unexplainable.
