Okay by now most people think that humans are the forerunners. The real question is how we can be the forerunners. To answer this we must go back to why we think that humans can be the forerunners. To name a few, there’s the fact that the signs and geometric figures on forerunner structures seem familiar to humans. Another reason is that while in the control room on the first halo the monitor tells the Chief that he has activated Halo once before. These explanations point to one theory on how the humans can be the forerunners and that is time travel. Now how can the forerunners time travel? I think that the crystal that they found on Reach could be used to travel back in time. I think this because there is a theory out that matter left over from the Big Bang could bend space into a cone shape. If you were to race a beam of light to the other side of the cone you could beat it by going around it instead of going down the middle like the light beam. Therefore you’d be traveling faster that light so you could go back in time. What if the crystal is a piece of matter from the Big Bang and that the forerunner could use it to travel back in time. They’d travel back in time why? To ensure that survival of the human race or even themselves when they activated the rings they’d plant humans in the past like the Chief so that he’d help to stop the activation of the ring so as not to destroy humanity. Hears an example: The first humans (forerunners) activate the Halos. The “forerunner” MC actives the Halo as planned except just before that happens another forerunner send that master chief and possibly other forerunners back in time to stop this from happening. Now we have to ask who stops Halo from being activated. Cortana does. But cortana was created by the past humans. She couldn’t have been sent by the forerunners. Wait, the forerunners could have sent Dr. Hasley (is that how you spell it) back in time. Remember that Cortana was created based off of Dr. Hasley and she could have been sent by the forerunners. Other people/things that could have been sent by the forerunners are the monitor, the Spartans, the halos, etc. The games give the false impression that the halos and forerunners are the past when actually they are the future being sent to the past. What do you guys think of this?

*Dr. Halsey, I think. :)

Very interesting, indeed. At first I thought you meant that the past humans/forerunners were sending themselves to to the future, instead of vice versa. It deffinately is a pluasible idea? But wouldn't the finding of the crystal on Reach effect things, if we were to figure out how to use its time-travel capabilties - assuming it has them. But if it is future life sending themselves to the past to STOP the activation, wouldn't the "future" life be dead already?

But - putting in current Haloverse events - isn't that no more than at least a year? (Maybe I could be wrong, we don't know Halo 3...)

That's interesting, but convoluted. Why, for example, does 343 GS say that over 100,000 local years have passed since the last activation? Why is there no evidence of Forerunners? If the Forerunners went back in time, why are the humans not 1,000 times more advanced than they are? Time travel produces a lot of unanswerable questions and paradoxes.
