There's no given area code, anyway.. But I could try it..

Part of me thinks that there's just too much going on here for me to be wrong, and part of me is freaked that I'm gonna wake some pissed-off jerk snoozing on the couch up at 3 in the morning.

If it is an ARG, it's not for Halo 3. Gears of War would be a possibility...

It is very ilovebees-ish...

Wow, okay..

If you click on the FORUM banner on the ElectricMetal homepage, you're taken to Imaninja.com, but there's nothing hosted there.

I found this huge thread on Halo.bungie.org back from 2004 discussing the same site.. back when there was still something on it.

Me. I just highly doubt Bungie would do the same thing twice. Gears of War seems like the most likely candidate for an ARG to me.

locust where did you get that picture? you said the auto response was a phone number. i and a friend just im'd the sn and we got the same, so where did that come from? If it really did say that, then theres no freakin way this isn't halo related. Possibly, someone attempting to copycat ILB, but the "contact UNSC", psh, where else is UNSC but in halo?

Click the link to the HBO thread that jdog posted, one of the posters screencapped that earlier apparently. Someone changed the auto message.

Dudes got a Xanga. Frackin A. I thin kthere are way too many real connections to be a legit ARG with Bungie. If he can mess with his site and put and his Xanga (little pentagram athte bottom right corner) then he has the werewithall to try his hand at it.

Could be:

Fall=Autumn
MY HOUSE WAS FLOODED, the Maw, you had to fight the Flood on the PoA

...not sure about the REQUEST though.

...

Melissa? Ring a bell, anyone?

In early July, an AI named Melissa crash landed, badly damaged, onto the server that hosts my aunt's website. The AI tried to orient and repair itself. The result: It turned 'I Love Bees' into a holy mess.

Look on the front page of Electricmetal.

"So two of the hackers contacted me via aim. (using the same sn though) A man named Matthew and a woman named Melissa."

Coincidence?

i immediately thought of the pillar autumn when i heard "fall".I don't know if analyzing the possible connections would be fruitful, but think aboujt it. We've obvoiusley got halo and ARg's on the brain, and you see "falls requst" and "i was on" next to eachother. What else would immediatley pop into your mind.

Okay.. This is a bummer.

from what I've been able to gather, the person's name is Scott, and he lives in Texas. This is his Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/xmetalx_xrockerx. He's even got the same lightning backdrop on it, too.

What a shame. I guess this is really sort of a dead end on one hand. There's nothing weird about this kid's Myspace page at all..

But on the other hand, why the hell is his site linking to imaninja.com, and what is his AIM doing spouting vague Halo autoreferences?

And what the hell is going on with that page source? As tough as it is to keep an open mind about this when someone's own MySpace page enters the fold, it just doesn't seem plausible that those bizarre messages can't have any semblance of an ARG to them.

Maybe Request is refering to an expedition, like exploring the Halo?

Like I said, what ARG has had this many real links to it? That is, personal websites and others that are legitamate. The kid, Scott, might have just tried his hand at starting something. It's not totally inplausible. Any idea when this was first discovered or how? I mean ILB had the movie trailer.

On a hunch from one of those joejoemonkeyking Google pages, I used an Arlington, TX area code for the number to see if it was a phone number.

After this jump in logic, it was simple to run the number through a reverse phone directory, and this is what I came up with. Still working on the details, but there is a phone in Arlington with this number. I'll call it tomorrow instead of this ungodly hour in case this is all an elaborate prank. I'm not sure if it's long distance or not...

Can I get a pat on the head for all of this amatuer detective work?

EDIT: Heh, whoops. Did I just put this guy Scott's private phone number on the internet? Um, my bad.

Hey, we're probably all just too starved of a good ARG.

Okay, just did a Whois.net domain registration search on the site..

If this were really set aside to be involved in an ARG, I think that whoever was running the operation would mask the registration info. Instead, it says its been registered by who I can only assume is the kid's mom. Lists Texas and everything..

Huh.
