Subject: DLC and Introduction.

Hey,

Kind of new here. Been playing Halo since CE and have been going back and forth on Halo 4 and Halo 3 and I think I have decided to play Halo 3 almost exclusively. Now my questions is where is CTF and other fun game modes and do I have to purchase every single DLC to play them as it seems I am limited to just pretty much playing Slayer. I know I am not a good Halo player in the old school sense. It seems I can do very well in Halo 4 though? So I wanted to invest my time in Halo 3 as its Older Schooled and I want to get good at it. I also want to play it as there seems to be more camaraderie.

You need all DLC to play most playlists.

Hmmmmm...... Thats kind of annoying.

Different Perspective

Play Rumble Pit and Social Big Team Battle. Those playlists are still very alive and feature everything you want from CTF to Zombies so you'll get all the variety you want out of Halo 3. At least the best it can provide at this current stage of its lifecycle. Also, try MLG if you feel the need to try something more competitive.

The DLC includes some of the best maps like Standoff and Avalanche. Also, Rumble Pit FFA on Cold Storage is loads of fun. Most of the DLC maps are worth it. There are a couple like Orbital and Blackout that don't meet my expectations, but overall the DLC is pretty good for Halo 3.

Would it be worth it to buy the DLC at this time?

If you're new which you seem to be, then no.

What would being new have to do with it?

HONAW, first off, you've been playing since Halo:CE, yet you don't own one single piece of Halo 3 DLC, nor do you know how the playlists work.

Also, Halo 4 was exclusively catered to noobs, that's probably why you appear to better at it. I.e the nerfed BR, Armour Abilities, nerfed Grenades etc.

I don't know why people are claiming to be new, now, when the franchise is eleven years old, but at the same time claiming to have been there since Halo:CE. Halo: Anniversary doesn't count.

Simple answer: You're either a trolling account, new to the Halo franchise from Halo: Reach or Halo 4 and want to know more about the story, or you're a retard. Either way, you haven't been there from the beginning. No chance.

This does not mean I have played multiplayer all this time. I have been playing Campaign from most of the Halos except Reach off and on all these years with friends and such. As I am sure you know there are some people that like to speedrun or play legendary on the campaign.
Halo 3's descriptions for playlists are a little non-descriptive as per what kind of games types are contained in the particular playlist. Excuse me for not having DLC. Sorry for asking, I just wanted to know.

I would definitely do this. If you have Ebay or something try to sell Halo 3 and maybe buy ODST via site for cheap or used at GameStop. Miss Halo CE, I believe that playing the sequels only furthers one's value of the original.

So, you've been playing Halo 3's campaign for 5 years. 5 whole years before something in your head went 'Oooh, I wonder what multiplayer is like, man!"

If playlists named every single thing they had in them, you'd be there all day reading, rather than playing.

People like doing speedruns and playing the campaign. But if this actually mattered to you, you wouldn't be new to these forums, you'd have actually made the effort to compare your speedrun times with rest of the community.
