Y'know what, DeeJ? It's not Xbox LIVE that brought me here.
Bungie did :)

Without Bungie, there'd be no Halo.
And without Halo, I wouldn't be here.

ALAN IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN!

XBL totally changed my perspective on moving, as being a military brat, moving is a constant in your life until retirement.

I never want to move, and my father may actually retire after 27 years in the service and we may settle down where we are now. XBL has helped keep me connected to my friends from all over the place, as well as introduce me to friends of friends.

if ( !now ){ when(); }

One of my regrets in life was not hopping on the XBL bandwagon ealier then five years ago.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Almost at my 10 year mark on XBL. I got it for christmas the year it released. I really did not use it until Halo 2 when I had to move to California. Made a quite a few friends and had some great times screwing around in MM.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

I've heard tht those who have been on XBL for at least a full 10 years gets that special XBox. Looks cool. Very old school. Nice.

Happy Buurrrffddaaayyy. ^_^ <3

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

It kept me from playing around in my backyard with a stick.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Hey Deej, non Mythic members like xbox live too.

Really, Ken? Please tell me more.

This is a day about longevity and nostalgia. I thought the Mythix might do a good job of putting things in perspective. I pay a lot of attention to each of you, and I know that every voice is important. Every week, I include as many of you as I can in the conversation on our blog. On this occassion, I needed to solicit some comments for press outlets in a way that was not exposed to the wild. When I sought to choose a group that could provide some meaningful context, I landed on the Mythic Members. In the even that the comments were not picked up, I ran them on our site. Then, I invited the rest of you to sound off...

This is a chance to celebrate a gaming platform that has brought us together.

To be far, those weren't the best responses.

I have seen you future

What's really amazing about Xbox LIVE is that it gives you the ability to get together and play games with people around the world.

I've met some really cool people over Xbox LIVE. Plus it has given me the chance to actually talk to some friends that I know from here.

Why do the mythix get the spotlight?
Because they're better than you. Get over it.

DeeJ's Challenge

I've met quite a few people through LIVE but what caused me to sign up initially? Well, I thought you needed it to sign up for Bungie.net. You sucked me in!

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

Being able to leave my friend's house and play Halo together was mind blowing. I remember the first night we played custom games over Xbox Live. It was literally having a party with your favorite people without leaving your own couch. Simple 2 vs. 2 matches in warthogs was such a different experience without knowing where your opponent was and talking on your super cool headset. Xbox Live made it easier to have a great time with my friends 10 years ago, and it still does today.

Now I understand what that thread was for :)

Anyway, I have used Xbox Live to meet new friends, faces, avatars, throw carnages and game-nights, enjoy midnight releases with others and download pointless Arcade Games to try them out while mashing the hell out of my controller.

It's been a great 10 years gaming online. I hope Microsoft continues to innovate Xbox Live as much as they already have. I don't believe I'll be switching to another main online gaming source for some while to come. Besides battle.net.

Cheers to online gaming!

Also, I forgot to add - It's also the 11 year anniversary of Halo CE to this day. Pretty awesome. Anyone remember the original Xbox Live promotional videos? Nostalgia!

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

So that's what that thread was for...

Happy birthday, XBL.

Hopefully Bungie got a Thank You card from MS, since Halo 2 put them on the map and all...

2004 I met 5 guys that live in Boston playing Halo 2. I was 13 at the time and we had a great time playing Halo 2. Now 8 years later we're still playing on Xbox Live, I'm 21 now and I've visited them in Boston a couple of times.
Who would have thought that they would become my closest friends? I'd never imagine this would happen all those years ago.

Good times, happy anniversary.

Xbox Live (and Halo 2) is responsible for a group of 20+ people, being friends for close-to ten years now (10 of whom are very close - I haven't met 95% of them, but I consider them dear friends). Maybe we were once thought of as the arseholes of this site, but whether it was under the banner of The Bungie Jumpers, or The Frozen Minority, no one can deny that they've had a ball if they've ever played with us on Live.

Here's to plenty more (not just another ten)! ;)
