It is a rare day when I don't get blood on product. I mean literally my blood on some box of cereal or bag of cat food, or something like that. You got a fast moving conveyor belt with a variety of different products going by, you have to quickly bust some of the boxes open to see whether or not you need to pull those boxes off the line or else get them back onto the conveyor belt while still making sure other items on the conveyor belt don't sneak past you. It is fairly easy for an object to shoot by and nick you while you're reaching for something else or cut yourself while you're hurriedly interacting with some potentially sharp surfaces.
Oh yeah, and being told to operate heavy machinery with no training, machinery that could dismember someone.
So you guys are right, it isn't actually slave labor... its more comparable to early 20th century factories.
(The whole job isn't dangerous, like actually stocking shelves or tidying up the store, but it isn't a walk in the park. I kind of laugh at the idea that sitting in the sun getting a tan for free or pulling some balls out of a gutter is significantly tougher. Also, not really sure about the "grow up" comments since I'm 23.)
