Subject: Now that I'm doing slave labor for chump change, I get Black Fr...

So I got a part time job at Target that pays 9.50 an hour, its my first taxable job and I never realized how hard these mega-corporations drive their peons. You definitely feel like you earned your paycheck after two weeks.

Anyways, my point is, I was looking at some Black Friday stuff, like getting a 20$ gift card if you buy Halo 4 or Black Ops II during Black Friday sales, and XBL 3 month gold cards selling for 10$, and it made me think "Why didn't I just wait a couple weeks, and save myself 35$, that's close to 4 hours of work flushed down the toilet!" since I've been hardly playing Halo 4 this week anyways.

I swear $9.50 is below the minimum wage for a 16 year old in Australia.

Make a thread saying you will counter any argument against armor lock...

Then respond with Adapt.

OP, don't complain about that job. It's easy. That being said, there are plenty of people who'd love to have any job. On that topic, comparing Target to slave labor? That's laughable. Sorry for sounding like a dick but if you find this hard, you've got a lot of problems coming to you when you grow up.

Although he has a point, OP. My first job was at a bowling alley for 8.25 an hour (minimum wage in my state), and a I guarantee you, they drove me far harder than whatever you're doing at Target. I had a friend who worked at Target; that was the easy -blam!-. And for what you're getting paid? You're in a pretty good spot, OP.

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

Seriously, why the -blam!- are you complaining?

If you had my part time job, you would struggle like a dog.

Seriously. I worked a $6.25 job for quite a bit.

All I'm going to say is, if a slave from 1600-1800s saw the work OP did, at the pay OP gets, he/she would gladly quit their "job" and trade places with the OP.

that's close to 4 hours of work flushed down the toilet!"

I made $7.50 as a lifeguard over the summer. It took a full day of work to afford a game. Get over it.

Steam name should be something similar

A day of work for a game isn't that bad for a summer job.

I'm not actually -blam!-, I just hate boobs.

I like to tape strawberries to my tits.

Now that I'm doing slave labor for chump change

So I got a part time job at Target that pays 9.50 an hour

You know that's higher than any states minimum wage, right? And you work at a store, definitely not that hard.

  • 11.15.2012 4:02 PM PDT

It is a rare day when I don't get blood on product. I mean literally my blood on some box of cereal or bag of cat food, or something like that. You got a fast moving conveyor belt with a variety of different products going by, you have to quickly bust some of the boxes open to see whether or not you need to pull those boxes off the line or else get them back onto the conveyor belt while still making sure other items on the conveyor belt don't sneak past you. It is fairly easy for an object to shoot by and nick you while you're reaching for something else or cut yourself while you're hurriedly interacting with some potentially sharp surfaces.

Oh yeah, and being told to operate heavy machinery with no training, machinery that could dismember someone.

So you guys are right, it isn't actually slave labor... its more comparable to early 20th century factories.

(The whole job isn't dangerous, like actually stocking shelves or tidying up the store, but it isn't a walk in the park. I kind of laugh at the idea that sitting in the sun getting a tan for free or pulling some balls out of a gutter is significantly tougher. Also, not really sure about the "grow up" comments since I'm 23.)

Dude. Im 24, with a job, and I only get paid minimum wage. Stop complaining.

Yep. Sure did.

Look, I'm not telling you who I work for. I signed up for one specific job, and I ended up working 5 different job roles for the same pay. Job roles that I'm not trained or certified to do mind you.

Again, you have no right to complain.
