The sniper rifle. Why doesn't it kill the flood? I don't get why a tiny 12.7mm pistol round or a 7.62mm AR round will kill them but a .50 caliber bullet doesn't rip ass through them? Who knows why?

Well aside from only getting it at that one instance against the Flood, it would have have been pretty much useless as the Flood are constantly moving. Or maybe it's an unfinished aspect?

Exactly what I was thinking. All it does is make a tiny hole in them, instead of a hundred, larger ones. Either that or the game designers were just lazy.

-Its a MG42!
-My favorite color is bubble shield

probably wrong but maybe they wanted you to fight them close up, not really far away like a whimp, where they do no damage

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

their insides are so screwed it just passes straight through

12.7 is a .50 cal. The sniper is 14.5?

If my memory serves me right, you sir are correct. And the sniper bullet passes through the flood with no damaging effects is because the sniper rifle fires sabot rounds. That means it is cover by some sort of casing to make it 14.5 mm in diameter to fit in the rifle correctly, but when fired, it sheds the casing in midair, thus maintaining the same power, but at a smaller point.

Sgt. A.J. Johnson has Boren's Syndrome; a side-effect from repeated/prolonged exposure to the radiation given off by plasma grenades.

The Flood don't die from a small-bore sniper rifle round traveling at more than 2000 feet per second because they have no use for their host's organs. i.e. brain, heart, lungs, etc. They can only by stopped by shooting enough matter off of them to cease motor functions rendering the host body useless. Prescision weapons should not be able to kill the Flood.

Because it's only one shot. You need to either pop a shotgun shell or a assault rifle clip into those suckas.

because they are already dead lol, uh...serously, the bullets go too fast and just go through them without notice. I think i read that in the H2 stragety guid.

Yeah, the bullets just go straight through them. However, i do recall at least knocking one of them down by testing this theory some time ago. I just kept shooting it until it finally fell over (though it eventually got back up again... and guess what i did :P Shot it back down again.)

And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

In........................................................Out .

The Legendary ending is just a joke, sorta a thanks for playing thing.

Anyway, the sniper rounds go too fast and are too uncommon to be lethal to a flood combat form.

OMG
Master Chief w/o his Helmet!

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

The way they explain it is they are zombies. The bullet is armor piercing and was meant to pierce vital organs. Since the flood don't have vital organs (they can survive with no heads for godsake) it doesn't do anything.

Guess I should've learned my round size conversions eh? I've done that thing where you shoot it and it gets up again. It's fun.

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

The infestation point of the flood wasn't confirmed in Halo 1. In Halo 2, A sniper shot to the chest of a human flood and to that circular thing in the center of an elite flood's body would kill them because that is where the basic form was located on the flood. In Halo 1, there was no infestation point.
