I change shapes just to hide in this place but im still im still an animal...
[UPDATE] Checked on all the hercules beetle grubs today to try and sex them, i have 2 males and 4 females which is perfect for breeding :D
Before.
After.
I've still got 6 of them, one died due to an injury, but its itneresting to see the growth of them, think they are about half way through the grub stage at guess, this (not my photo) is the end result.
Anyone growing anything else at the minute?
Im pretty sure you have your own rhino beetle species in the US, anyone found any?
They are similar in shape although with a much smaller horn, grey colouring with black specks.
Heres the rest of the beetles im currently rearing.
Progress is slow with these, the first photo is from September and the other is from earlier today. I've got a few other species currenly growing aswell.
Dicronorhina derbyana layardi
Been after this species for years, always wanted some, currently got 13 grubs which look like they'll be pupating soon, heres what the adults look like.
Mecynorrhina torquata
These are real monsters, pretty hyped to keep them, got 6 larvae young larvae. Keeping them individually in seperate tubs and to keep track of their progress easier i've named them after the 6 direwolves in Game of Thrones :3
Heres the adults.
Eudicella schultzeorum pseudowoermani
That photo their is of my adults. I originally got 23 larvae, ended up with 10 males, 10 females, couldnt ask for a better result. They were the first success that kicked me off to get try more. The adults died off around the same time from old age, still got one, but their larvae are growing now. Here you can see the last adult along with some of the current 100 larvae, most had already burrowed down during the photo and i had already sold and trade another 100.
There's also a couple of others although i dont really have enough to breed, they are all from the same Pachnoda genus, it was pretty nice to see the diversity between them.
