Subject: Should there be a combustable weak spot in the Scropion tank?

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Now the biggest problem with The Scorpian tank is that it is a pain in the ass to destroy!

Now if you look at the ghost you can shoot out t's fuel tank and destroy it in one and to hits.
So should there be a cumbustable fuel tank underneath some of the Scorpion tanks armor that you can shot out to destroy the tank?

Two rockets kills a tank..

Oh, I think some vehicles should have a weak spot, such as the Ghost's.. Maybe a gas tank for the Warthog and some stronger, but still more vulnerable underneath for the Tank etc. (Banshee etc. are fine..)

the tank is called a tank ffor a reason. I prefer the halo 2 tank to the halo 1 tank because the halo 2 tank was actually useful.

a combustible gas tank, unless it could only be hit by a sniper rifle or something, would totally defeat the purpose of the heavy armor and such. boarding would also be near useless because you could just shoot the gas tank. sure, you dont get the tank back, but it's much easier.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

Really all that needs to happen is to separate the tanks health from that of the driver. So the tank can only take a certain amount of damage before it explodes.

in my opinion, that's how all vehicles should work. i dont like how a person with overshield in the tank is practically invincible. if the tank explodes, just deal a whole bunch of damage and with overshield he might live :p

I think that aqll vehicles should have a weak spot, where a precision hit or two from a sniper will destroy it. Maybe a small gas tank between the treads of the tank, or a small node near the back of the wraith.

Not a pain to destroy if you coordinate your team more effectively.

Anywhere on the tank is a weak spot for a Rocket Launcher. Hell, a guy with a SMG can take out a tank driver. You don't tanks should be that weak, do you? A fuel tank...then what's the point of a tank if anyone can take it out easily just by shooting its exposed fuel tank. Maybe the Covenant would be dumb enough to do something like that.

The Ghost is easy to destroy by its weak spot. But get this, a Ghost is alot faster and more mauverable than a Scorpion. If you want to pull the realism card, then Bungie was very lenient about it. Anything less than a Rocket Launcher or equivalent artillery should not damage a tank at all. A grenade might blow off a plate or buckle its tread, but that's it.

The world is in my hands...Were boned.

One way to kill a scorpion is to snipe it. if you scope you'll se the personm in it's head. snipe his head he's dead and you can get it.

Well the armor will be covering the fuel tank so first you would have to shoot out the armor covering it.

Then after the armor has been rmoved one wor to well aimed sniper rounds will cause it to ignite and explode!

This is halo 2 not halo 1. The hatch dosent have those stupid openings anymore.

The scorpion takes at least 3 rockets to kill, which I too think is a bit excessive... maybe if someone shot the engine after it was exposed with something explosive it would blow up?

(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

It sounds like a good idea, but in my opinion it should be under the tank. If it was anwhere that was exposed to gunfire often it would just be idiotic.

You can't simply "shoot out" a tank's armor. You go on and do that. If you're not riddled with bullet holes or crushed into a bloody pulp, then I'll believe it can be done.

Besides, Halo 2's Scorpion did have a exposed fuel tank if I recall correctly from what Bungie said pre-release. The hatch in the rear behind its cannon. Sometimes it'll emit flames when the Scorpion's took a bad beating.

As I said. REALISTICALLY, a Rocket Launcher is a tank's only downfall.

yep, Tanks always should have weak points, that would make them more realistic. Plus, i hate it when the enemy gets a tank and they're unstoppable.

Exactly, the Wraith tank is fairly easy to destroy because it's armor is weaker, but The Scorpion tank at times just pisses me off!

Well in reality you can only ignite fuel with tracer rounds and whos to say the vehicles dont have a reactor this is the year 2552 we are talking about!

Modern tanks don't have exposed tanks or combustables, neither do humvees(unless you shoot the engine). The tank should just be easier to kill, through Brute Shots and Grenades.

What your saying is like...

FLIP IT OVER FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE!

I think the only way to get it is with too very-well placed shots from the sniper. It would be very small, and with no auto-aim, very hard to hit. Twice. An SMG or BR wouldn't effect it.

2 things first off you all keep talking about a sniper well lets see snipers are genrely hard to come bye and put a sniper in a decnt persons hand and you got a massicure so al lthe sniper would have to do is sneck around for a sec aim and walla sniper jsut killed the tank....how -blam!- snipers are bad enought allready let alone a sniper being able to take out heavy armour. (now the banshes has the right idea sniper is utterly useless against it :). but then we come to a problem the scorpian is a hard thing to kill atleasat with the wraith he has to use indirect fire so you can some what dodge his shots and if you have a banshes hes dead now with a scorpian that machine gun slaughters all infantry and the main gun takes care of the rest gernades wont hurt it much and if you get a banshe near it your screwed unless you can stay right on top of it. but if you nock the dirver hatch of its fairly easy to kill the driver... so weak point would be nice but then agian it would defeat the purpose of a tank they just need to make more tank killing weponary and vehicles thats all... and people that run out into the feild with a smg and 2 gernades suspectign to kill a tank...you desevre to die.

A gas tank on the outside on a tank? What kind of dumbass engineer would do that? And the tank really isn't that hard to kill, anyway, if your team has any coordination.

On the bottom. Right. Of course, it the tank went over a rock, it'd be screwed.

I think there should be a gas tank under the Scorpion, at the center of it between the 2 caterpillar tracks. The only way to blow it would be to throw a grenade at the exact right spot under the tank or to shoot it with a rocket while the Scorpion is flipped. It would have good protection (very thick metal layer between the bottom of the Scorpion and the actual fuel container) not to be destroyed by a rock (like in previous post) and would be bulletproof.

WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!?

Why would humans, 556 years from now, make a tank that can be detroyed in 1-3 shots?!?!?!

Why bother putting something on as dumb as that??? I think the humans would realy rather make the tank stronger when fighting aliens... In stead of making it easier to destroy!! ARGHH!!

BTW. OK... a small hole where they put the fuel down. but only fire could do that. and would only stop it moving. the cannon should still fire and the turret still swizzel. Oh and what if they made eletrical tanks somehow?

"Very thick armor layer" means "grenade proof." Really. A fragmentation grenade is not a shaped-charged explosive. Plus, that would make it absurdly easy to kill. A tank moves very slowly, and puting a grenade under it would be a piece of cake.

  • 07.01.2006 1:34 PM PDT

To bad a bullet going through a gas tank wouldn't make the vehicle explode...
