I am sorry if this post has already been done, I have not been able to find it if so.

Anyways, with Xbox 360's new Achievement system, every game has benchmark events that evaluate you as a player through your achievements. Now Halo has a legacy of having some hardcore players. DOA4 has shown us that you can get achievements through reaching certain goals even through online play. I think if you combine these two ideas, you will add a new level of gaming goals, since it is viewable ot the public, everybody is going to fight there hardest to complete every single achievement in Halo 3, so what are some ideas that would challenge us greatly and prove ones worth?

Now I'm assuming in custom games, these achievements could not be reached, cause you could set up your buddies to help you get that "Killtacular with a sniper rifle" award.

Here are some of my ideas:

Completing Easy/Novice/Legendary
Unlocking Impossible Difficulty mode (Will work on a better name)
Completing Impossible mode in under 4 hours.
Completed Easy/Novice/Legendary without dying/reverting to save (Probably not possible in Impossible mode, so no option there)
Destroyed all covenant drop ships in level 3 (or Something difficult in campaign mode)
Reached Killtacular/Rampage/Untouchable, etc
meleed 4 enemies to death with the flag
Reached Player Level 10/25/30/35/40/45/50
Discovered egg 1, etc

Any more ideas?

Though, I must admit, I'm not overly fond of achievements linked to ranks.

My friends and I almost never play ranked due to Xbox live not allowing two Xboxes in the the same household to go online at the same time. We're forced to have a guest. If you turn one Xbox on to Live, the other automatically shuts down its connection.

(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Neither am I, I don't want them to encourage cheating among us.

That's so people don't cheat.

BTW, NO RANK achievements. That leads to uber cheating.

The following I think are a bit hard/ kill-me-now-before-I-try hard.
-Completing Impossible mode in under 4 hours.
-Completed Easy/Novice/Legendary without dying/reverting to save
-Reached Player Level 40/45/50 (this also encourages cheating)

Some of my ideas are:
-Found and used the Scarab Gun (or some other awesome gun)
-Didn't get negative feedback for 40 hrs of gameplay (would also reduce cheating and flaming)
-Hijacked 50 vehicles
-Won 10 games in a row
-Died 10 times in a row (For us losers out there)

I'd prefer it if the achievements were mostly single player along with a few online ones, but none related to rank. ifanything just have something worth like 5 points that says like "played over 10 hours online" or something. i mostly want the achievements in halo 3 to be reasonable that almost anyone can get with a lot of dedication. i dont want to have to climb the ranks online just to get a few gamerpoints.

in other words, lets keep it so that getting achievements is actually fun, not a chore. sticking x number of grunts is fun. getting a certain number of medals in game, getting a certain difficult to get medal, etc. accomplishing campaign mode co-op or single player on different difficulties.
