Picking up boxes isnt such a wierd thing. In half life 2 you can pick up boxes to make barricades and stairs to get to higher places. Im sure that people will not run around carrying boxes because you will move slower and cant jump. If you think people will be able to take down the barricade in the same way you put it up. Again they will move slow and will probably be killed by the time they move a few inches.

This may seem like a novelty but it would be better than having to move boxes buy hitting them.

Wow... I just noticed hat the Covenant stationary shields aren't in MP. They should include them. It would offer great strategic actions.

Sorry whats that got to do with this.

I should add that stacking boxes and hiding behind them would be suicide.

One grenade in front of your wall of boxes and the boxes will all be flying into your face with lethal force. I kid you not about the "lethal" aspect. I've been hit by flying debris before.

lol

But then, in MP, it would be a rush for the boxes and shields, and not just fighting.

I say no to this, because people will just attempt to move the boxes and stuff, and not fight. What fun is it, when your enemies base is covered in boxes - no way into thier base, and you can do nothing about it.

hmmmmmmm...
but i dont think bungie intended for you to move boxes to block enemies.

Then whats the point in having boxes in most of the multiplayer maps that can be moved, apart than the fact that they look pretty

places to hide. you can move them to make sure the enemy doesnt hide there.

then again you may be right. i just dont usually move them.

Hmmmm.....

1. It's NOT FINAL!
2. Good idea.
3. It's not original, other people have thought of it.

How about those Covenant stationary shields?

They should make us be able to carry things realistically. I don't want to see someone carrying the hugest box in the world around.

Also, these boxes might be carried for use of cover. So balance issues might be figured out. Of course, bungie could make it so that if an enemy shoots the box, he drops it. There you go! Balance Fixed! lol

Move boxes around by holding down a button?

Here's the problem with that...

If you build a barricade in such a manner...

Wouldn't the enemy easily be able to take it down in the same manner?

The barricades in Halo 2 are effective because they are so hard to move (without explosives).

If this were implemented into Halo 3... It'd be LESS than useful... It'd be just a gimmick to get people to play...

And I'm sick of Gimmicky games. I really am.

dude

while you move the box, u cn't use your weapons, so if an emeny runs up to our base and tries to move their boxes....

then they will get bullets in their heads

not exactly

if mc can flip a (60 TON) tank, than he can pick a little box up and hold it when he gets shot

and also, moving boxes is not a really important aspect of the game. sure, its usefull, but not terribly important

"The strength of the pack is the wolf, the strength of the wolf is the pack."

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me..."

ODST for life

it just doesnt fit into gameplay. and plus, it would just look stupid to see MC carrying a box around.

okay dip -blam!-.

take a look at half-life 2.

you can pick up objects and throw them at the enemy, very forcefully too.

and *gasp* its a FPS!!! ZOMG!!!!

I think this would have the potential of being abused way too much.

This is supposed to be a fastpaced first-person shooter, not a puzzle/strategy game.

what about, rather then carry the huge boxes around, you were able to push them instead. Much easier, more realistic (since no one could really pick those huge things up), and it wouldn't be copying Half-life. Also, limits the size of the barricade you can build (you can't stack them) and forces players to use some intelligence in building their barricades, since you could only push them at certain angles in tight spots.

As for the COV Shields (the permant standing ones, not the jackel shields), you should be able to carry around, but they should count as a weapon until you drop them.

The other good thing about being able to push boxes that I've noticed no one mention is that it helps with strategy and fortifying a position in CTF, oddball, king of the hill, etc, which in my opinion is awesome.
