#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

In many places during the campaign, I felt like there were too many events in each level that were rushed over and not explained well. For example, I quickly lost sight of what was going on when you entered Requiem's core, and had to shut down those beam things. Only after reflecting on the events did I understand that Didact manipulated us to release him by using Infinity's communications.

Also, the large part played by the transmissions you recieve from Cortana and others was a new aspect, one that took me a while to get used to. While I recognized terms like "Infinity" and "Lasky" when Cortana started talking about them, I was confused as to where she got these topics from.

Overall, I like the content of the story, it's only the the manner in which 343 tries to tell it that I dislike.

Did any of you guys feel like this while playing, or is it just me?

TIE ME TO A TREE!!!!!

No I felt the same way man, it was really rushed, didn't explain how the covenant was involved ect.. don't worry they are aware of this and will fix everything in the new ones. They just wanted to release there new sandbox and give us a test of the new halo.

What are these first person words you speak of?

Not to be rude but... you're kidding right? Cortana specifically states what the Didact was doing before the end of the level.

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Yeah, it wasn't well paced at all.

Cortana pulled names out of nowhere a few times, I was confused.

The human element always mucks things up.

I'm just confused as to why 343 didn't tell me why the didact dude was even in the core in the first place.

Perhaps I phrased that wrong. What I meant was that I only fully understood the events, and ramifications (i.e. Covenant trying to free Didact) of what happened during parts of the campaign only after thinking about it.

I didn't get minor parts, like why exactly the two energy beams needed to be activated in the cartographer room, but nothing major. Other than not knowing what a terminus is. I looked up the definition later and it still doesn't make complete sense. Maybe 343 doesn't know the definition either...

Was anyone else very confused during the Librarian scene? (I haven't read forerunner series btw)

Try subtitles, makes everything alot easier to follow. I never play games without subtitles anymore.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

I stormed straight through the campaign. Of course, I admired the graphics and environments, but after that it was a series of recursions.

It ain't 343's fault that you lads didn't paid clear attention to the story ingame.

Your brains were busy with thinking about brainless shooting without paying attention to the dialog or cutscenes.

Not suprised as you lads are used to games like Call of duty with a story that is filled with terrorists and explosions.
Sounds alot to modern day events which makes it pathetically simple.

I noticed that too. They didn't explain where she got these names or even why the hell we were fighting the elites.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I'm waiting for someone to say 'Shut-up Halo 4's story made perfect sense'.

But for those who don't suck 343i you know what. No, no it doesn't.

I'm an Indonesian Halo (and other games) gamer!
Bhineka Tunggal Ika!!

I also miss those dialogs on Broadsword trench run because I have to really focus on evading those stuff

I know. They simply left too much of the story to be explained in other mediums.

I was also quite confused how many things were just taken for granted. Best example is how MC picks up a Promethan weapon for the very first time, doesn't even ask what it is or how it works, but instantly knows how to shoot and reload it.

However, it's not too far fetched that Cortana can read tags from UNSC ship communications and can tell their names and captains like she called the Infinity and Lasky. And she did say she simply didn't know why the elites are fighting you: first they were believed to be just some pirates or something and after the massive fleet came we are left with "it's been 3 years. Anything could have happened". Though still wonder why MC didn't bother to ask after his last moments on the FUD were with an Elite friend...

You really cant complain about the weapon thing....he did it with covenant weapons, so honestly its not a new issue.

Don't forget the promethean weapons rebuild themselves to suit the user. They take on a more human appearance so I'd imagine using them could be quite self explanatory.

  • 11.18.2012 5:35 AM PDT

I felt the same. The entire story just moved too fast, especially the last few levels though.

And Chief was pushing on Forerunner controls all the times during the old Halo games.

Forever Forgotten

It honestly feels like 343i has taken away the mystery from halo 4, I mean the trailer had a lot more mystery to it, but the way the plot twisted just turned me down. Halo 2 was perfect! Also, Halo 4 is too futuristic in design aswell. That's just opinion though :(

Felt rushed to me.

And even had more buttons than Reach!
