Subject: Ark or Arc?

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

People of the Halo 3 Forum!!

READ!!

I have seen many people make this common but big mistake, and I am tired of seeing it.

I see people refer to the structure in the trailer as the "Ark", and "Arc". No difference, right?

Wrong.

BIG DIFFERENCE!

The ARK (with a K) refers to the Biblical Ark, the Halo place, or Noah's Ark, or shelter.

An ARC (with a C) refers to a curve, like half a circle.

When you are typing about the Ark, please don't spell it A-R-C. True, it SOUNDS the same, but it MEANS something completely different.

That's the end of Spartan2010's English Class for the Spelling Impared.

Any questions?

Actually, yes it does.

Play the last level of Halo 2, and turn on the subtitles, and read how it's spelled. When the Oracle (343 Guilty Spark) says, "Why, the Ark, or course", he spells it A-R-K, not A-R-C.

This isn't an insult, but just saying:

You have to assume that is the ARK not the ARC, because would a giant curve save us from the activation of the Halos?

No.

Would a shelter save us from the Halos?

Yes.

I am not flaming you, I am just pointing that out.

Ugh...English class is turning into Bible class.

Ok, so Noah was told to build the Ark, which is, yes, a large wooden ship. But, it SAVED him, his family, and the animals in it from the FLOOD .

In short, it protected them from annihilation. Just like the Ark will most likely protect us from annihilation.

“We are the Mirratord. We strike with speed and stealth. Our enemies will not see their deaths. They will not know their fate. In darkness, we will see light. In light, we will see darkness. No matter the location, we will see victory. If we fail, no one will know. Like a ghost, our presence is a mystery. For the honor of the Mirratord" Join the Mirratord here

Are you sure the Ark was the name of the giant wooden ship, because it could have been named Diversity. You never know.

Or read my fanfic, "Effort Cannot Conquer Faith" -- it won a signed novel from Eric Nylund!

*ahem*

GS never said anything about the Ark shielding or protecting anybody.
Why would it?

(simple question. I'm not saying it doesn't protect. I just don't advocate that shcool of thought)

Well, there are 2 Arks in the Bible.
I don't have to cover the first one, you all know about Noah.

But what about the Ark of the Covenant? It was a small wooden box covered in gold. Anyone who touched it (just about anyone) died.

Does the following verse seem familiar to anyone?
Revelation 11:19
19Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

I've always found it idiotic that Halo has religious meanings behind it.. dont know, it sort of ruins it for me that its secretly a plot made by the church to lure young teens (or middle aged lonely men) into there religion...

What, I thought when you opened it it had immense light and whoever looked at it even for a glimpse would die. Much like the Ark in the trailer. Big flash of light at the end.

Misfit, Halo may have some connections, but the story is not a retelling of the Bible itself.
