Subject: Ark or Arc?

I'll have you know
that I've become
Indestructible!

Idiotic, or you just don't like it?

I don't think "the chuch" is behind halo necessarily.

The way I see it, the creators of halo wanted to add a huge amount of depth to the story that can only be found through tireless digging.

How could the church make a game "attract converts" if the religious undertones are so hidden? You have to want to find them, and through that you need to have knowledge about it before hand. Potential "converts" typically don't have that kind of knowledge.

Well, there are 2 Arks in the Bible.
I don't have to cover the first one, you all know about Noah.

But what about the Ark of the Covenant? It was a small wooden box covered in gold. Anyone who touched it (just about anyone) died.

Does the following verse seem familiar to anyone?
Revelation 11:19
19Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
What, I thought when you opened it it had immense light and whoever looked at it even for a glimpse would die. Much like the Ark in the trailer. Big flash of light at the end.

Misfit, Halo may have some connections, but the story is not a retelling of the Bible itself.

It does that, too.
But at least one man did die from touching it. When the Ark of the covenant was in transit, it was about to tip over.
One of the Hebrews laid his hand on it to keep it from falling to the ground.
When he touched it, he died.

I don't think the connection is even that strong... ok that's not the right word to use because there is obviously some, lets call it, plagiarism on Bungies part in that they borrow a lot from the events in the Bible. But in saying that, the Bible wasn't the first to tell these types of stories and it won't be the last. It's just a convenient reference point for western society.

So... are you saying that it's a fluke that Bungie created a story about halos, the flood, the Ark, the covenant, rampant characters "defying gods and demons", walking among men and angels, other characters descending to the grave in the process of getting rid of Regret and then making a second coming to earth to end all fights?

Your saying that is merely a convenient reference point?

Not at all, just that there's no underlying religious message or intent to the games. The names and events we see are there because it gives weight to the story...

Ok. I can flow with that.

"I'm hungry..."

I don't know if the Ark is a safehaven or something completley different. No one does. All I know is that the Ark is said to be abe to remote activate all of the Halo's. That's enough incentive to make Truth want to find it.

However, something tells me the Prophets know alot more than they are letting everyone believe. I think they knew exactly what Halo does and what the Ark does. I think he knows that the Ark is a safehaven. How does he know this? Because he knows that the Humans are (or are related/descended from) the Forerunners, and humans are alive.

I have a hunch that Truth does not really worship the Forerunners, and that he knows that we are the descendants of the Forerunners. He knows that the Ark, and Earth, is a place where he can activate the Halos, kill the flood, kill the other Covenant, then wipe out the humans left on Earth.

Then the Prophets would rule the galaxy with ultimate power, and Truth would be the one being worshipped as a deity..

Just a thought...
