Okay, i have this mobo, this HDD, and plan on getting this northbridge cooler (i read the stock fan kept failing), this Processor, and this Operating system. I will put it all in this case (already have). Is this a good setup? I am trying to build a mid-range gaming PC. My friend is giving me an ATI Radeon X700 PRO PCIe card for free, and if there is anything on this list that i can get for cheeper anywhere else, please post a link. Thanks for your time. Also, i have a monitor, a cd drive, a dvd drive, a power supply (another friend is giving me this power supply from that case) and speakers with a sound card.

dont bother upgrading the northbridge heatsink unless it actually fails on you. Dont read the reviews on there, go find some actual tech reviews from places like tomshardware or something. And yea, the links dont work so just give us the names of the parts.

that PSU is complete -blam!-. I have that same case and the PSU was terrible. I had a ton of problems getting my pc to work. It read incorrect voltages and the 12v rail was horrible. I would highly suggest buying an antec PSU with that.

Okay, could you point me in the direction of a pretty good power supply that looks cool(ie. black with lights)? no more expensive than $25 if possible. And also, is it possible to to run a dual pci card setup with 2 different types of graphics cards? like an ati radeon x700 pro and a PNY geforce 7600gs?

If I could give you a suggestion: don't get anything with lights other than the power button unless your going to sell it. The computers doomed to a life of darkness anyway, and the light eat the power.

If you plan on using SLI, I'm pretty sure ATI cards won't work.

the above poster is correct, you cannot use an ATi card with SLi. However, if you wanted you could have more than one PCI video card in your system to support multiple moniters, although this is somewhat impratical. If you meant to type, which I think you did, PCI-E (PCI Express x16) video cards then no, you cannot for two reasons. First, like the other guy said both GPU's must be nVidia GPU's, and second they both must be the same GPU. (i.e. two 6600GT or two 7800GT, but not one 7800GT and one 7800GTX).

i wil try and show you a good power supply, although for $25 i think you're gonna be in a bit of a pickle.

Antect Power Supply

and also, i'd recommend a 6600GT or a 7600GT for a video card.

if you need any more help just PM me or drop me an email. muffinman22@msn.com

For 60 dollars more you can get an Athlon 4200 X2 (dual core), this thing can handle anything I throw at it.

that X2 4200 is socket AM2, he has a socket 939 board so it wouldn't work.

however a socket 939 X2 4200+ might be to his liking. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

good call lucifuge

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention i got a stick of this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820 145505.
and i cant go more expensive than $300 for a processor. I meant to ask is that a good processor for the price. after a while i plan on upgrading the GPU and the RAM. I will prob upgrade to 2gbs soon. $325 is my limit now not including the OS.

Also, i would prefer not to get dual core becaude its mad expensive and it requires you to *uck around with the bios and thats the only thing that scares me.

oh and Gemini, your link dosent work. Whats so bad about the power supply i have now? i will probably get a new power supply eventually, but what are the cons of the psu's i have now. i have the power supply from the case i said i already have and will get the power suply from the smaller box case. which PSU is better? because i am on a strict limit and prob cant afford a PSU right now, and probably cant for a little while considering i just dumped over $700-$800 into this computer now.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but the item you are looking for has been deactivated."
Error message. i think i'm going to stick with one of the power supplies i have now, is that alright? what is so bad about one of the ones i have now?

its not so much that there is something wrong with it, but that you have to be careful with power supplies because brand does actually matter, unlike some parts. Antec is known for making solid psu's, so i would recommend one from them thats all.
