Finally, Ep. 3 is here. Spoilers or whatever:

- The Artifact was a transmitter/teleporter

- Jul has made an in-game appearance. :)

- Everybody hates Halsey because she's a "war criminal" -__-

Thoughts?

Episode 3

Something you need.

What is interesting for me is the shrine and what it represents. And another thing is how this artifact could end up becomming a really important tool.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Halsey "made" Infinity - another piece of evidence--they just keep piling up--for why she should be held a prisoner casue of her crimes against humanity.

And.. even more blatantly obvious exhibition.. How is this rewarding? It's even more mindless than Stargåte.

People are told she's a war criminal and when all you know is 'she kidnapped kids and turned them into superhumans,' you're not going to argue otherwise.

We know her for who she really is. But we've been having this discussion since 2011, and it's getting boring. Under 343i, Halsey's been imprisoned and made a scapegoat of. Get over it.

Loved this episode, it's leaps and bounds over the first two.

Thanks. I was busy playing the missions :)

Missions are still -blam!- bad. Same maps and multiplayer maps redesigned for Spartan flops. What a failure.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Wow, that episode really demonstrates how much they need to gut out the art team responsible for the Covenant designs. I can't call them Elites whilst maintaining a straight face.

--------------/

I also have no clue what is going on in this setting. Still no explanation as to the identity of this new Covenant and its hypothesized goals. No clues as to whether it is on its last legs or not seeing as its fleet is no longer there, but also given the fact that they seem to just keep on pulling ships out of the aether. Just some context clues would be nice.

Halsey and Lasky are the only characters so far that I don't want to punch in the face.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

A massive improvement over the last 2 weeks, much more enjoyable and I'm very much enjoying the direction of the story - getting quite a Halo Wars vibe from it actually. Nice to see Halsey sticking up for herself, stunning performance by Jen Taylor as usual too.

Was great to see Jul turn up, the new appearance of the Elites is gradually growing on me.

We should know better, because we are better.

Much better than the first two, both in terms of gameplay and story. I will be replaying the second Raganarok mission for quite a while.

I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

A) Ugly lizard things are still ugly

B) I laughed when Halsey verbally slapped SIV's under palmer

C) ships exploding from nowhere and the UNSC managing to pull air superiority only at the end of the missions that affects air engagements in no way is not fun to watch, is not rewarding and is actively demeaning to both atmosphere, suspension of disbelief and lore enjoyment.

D) 343 get your stuff together and explain stuff, this isn't CoD or BF where everyone knows the plot already.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

That's nice to know.
I think people are prosecuting Halsey because even though the Spartans saved humanity, their original purpose was to put down insurrections.

Yeah it was a good episode, though I dislike the portrayal of Halsey and Palmers over-reaction to Halsey working the Infinity bridge console.

Something weird happens? Get your gun out and point it at the old womans head. Yeah, that'll help.

Spartan-IVs are idiots. It's disappointing to see that due to this new direction in storyline everyone is convinced that Halsey is a bad bad lady.

You can only know what you've been told, and as far as Palmer's been told, Halsey is a manipulative -blam!-.

We know she's not horrible, but they don't. You can't call them idiots for ignorance.

That's the thing, we've been told NOTHING about what Palmer knows. They really, really -blam!- needed to do the third kilo-5 book so we wouldn't be asking these questions.

They know Halsey made S2's like chief. They know she was involved in kidnapping children. Apparently they don't know the two are combined since Palmer looked shocked when Halsey said they trained them to be spartans.

I honestly can't see ANY board of admirals acting as judges with full access to all of Halsey's actions calling her a war criminal and tossing her in jail after all the positive things she's added to humanity.

The CGI was well done, even if I dislike elements of story. The gameplay just murders any suspension of disbelief I had. Repeatedly.

Just bringing up the fact the Halsey does in fact willingly kidnap the children even if the military allowed it, dosent make it right and any good that came of it has no basis on wether or not she should be punished.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Yeah, I suppose that whole saving humanity thing should just be overlooked. "Grr, she wanted to end a bloody civil war, and tried to achieve peace in the UNSC". Yeah, what a -blam!-.

  • 11.19.2012 7:30 PM PDT

So what in some poeples eyes the ends do not justifiy the means, I happen to be one of those people. Lets use Hitler and the -blam!-s(yeah i know) Now assume they ended up in control of the world and carried out their plans, what if a rule by them would be better for the worlds growth? Would it have excused the fact that they would ethically cleanse millions of people?

*Edit* Also a Vaz from the Thursday war, while he knows that Halsey is the direct reason for humankinds survival he still tries to kill her. Why? Because he disagreed with the way she accomplished that goal.

Halsey sacrificed 150 children's lives to save all of humanity. That's hardly comparable to Hitler's plans and desired outcome.

Fixed.

All im really trying to say is it's amatter of opinion, and in my opinion I think she should be treated as a criminal.

She has been crucified, also remember most info that came out, is usually controlled by ONI, and thus they can create the story they want to.

This effects public perception on her. Though i really want to see someone actually come to the aid of Halsey.

Exactly why I actually mentioned Vaz, he see's the true info about the spartan 2 program. Not only that he but also wasn't alive during the insurrection. He never expereinced a war between humans so he cant view hurting other humans in the same way as the older generations can. All he's know his entire life is war with the convenant, and the spartans end up being the ones who brought an end to the war. Yet he still tries to kill Halsey because she kidnapped children. In his opinion that in itself was unforgivable and he's constantly conflicted with it throught the two books he's in.

So because her actions eventually lead to good, that means she should get off scott free?

So if an evil man, does horrible things to people, but somehow his actions later lead to saving people, even though he is evil, he should not be put on trial because even though he did horrible things, the good out weighs the bad?

Or what if a man invents wonderful tools that benefit humanity, and save people, make the human life better.....but his methods in creating said tech is by sacrificing/experimenting on people to get said best tech. But according to your beliefs, because his actions have benefited some people, the whole experimenting on people, even causing some people to die, should just be ignored.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

My problem with the crucifixion of Halsey isn't that ONI presented her as a scapegoat; it's that all the inner members think so as well.

That's really, really stupid. I'd have bought it if ONI wanted to publicize the Spartan-II program even more and crucify Halsey as a way of covering its own ass, but instead -blam!- Paragonsky is crying "HOW COULD YOU KIDNAP THEM AND MAKE CLONES, HALSEY?" when she's the head of the organization that okayed the whole thing to begin with.

It'd have been really interesting to see that story aspect if it was a scapegoat. We may have seen people start to see her side, or that ONI itself is a completely morally ambiguous organization. Instead I get to see a bunch of bleeding-heart soldiers cry over how she's worse than Hitler.
