The halos kill all sentient life, which I think means they do kill the Flood in combate form. The combat form flood still have the brains of whoever it was they took over so I think the halos would target the combat forms. However the halos wouldn't directly kill the small parasite forms as I do not believe they are sentient. And all you need to start a flood outbreak are the parasite forms. At the last activation of the halos I think all the combat forms were killed and the parasite forms starved to death. But I believe some of the parasite forms in the laboratories on the halos were able to successfully go into hibernation in the labs, and they were awoken by the covenant in the two halo games. These parasite forms were all that was needed to start another outbreak.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each brave fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, or flags.
-The Next War

they were kept on ice or hibernated or something like that during that time.

Lee Harvey Oswald, shooting from the top floor of
the Book Depository was able to take 3 shots from
an old Italian bolt action rifle. From a distance of over
258 feet and shooting at a moving target he was able
to score 2 hits including a headshot. Now does
anybody know where he learned to shoot like this?

My best guess would be that not enough time passed for the flood to totally starve off and that life met up with the flood again right as they were almost about to become extinct.

all the flood but gravemind and very few flood forms that were being contained by the forerunner for study (kind of like a frozen cave man is preserved instead of decaying) but once the covenant landed on halo they released the flood that were being contained and caused a whole new outbreak. The halo's did work with the exception of a few flood that were meant to be kept alive for studys in the first place.

maybe after some of the flood started to die of starvation the others that were left ate the bodies and reproduced and so on......till the events of h1. Considering the halos kill their food.
Please no flaming it was just a thought.

ill explain this briefly, the ring destroys all beings capable of sustatining infection forms, and makes them brain dead by destroying nerve and brain activity, BUT the infection forms cant sustatian others, so they werent killed, you should also note that the halos where used 3 times before, as when used the forerunner died from it, so they couldnt correct there mistakes. the infection forms just basicly fed off the dead and/or entered a deep sleep, as with most creatures, in time of survival instinct takes over

as for the gravemind, he is a step up from what keyes was turned into on halo 1, he is also the leader of his group of flood, as the flood mutate easly.

Second acct: RC Zerg Rushes

whoever posted this one is a retard. TWO BETRAYALS OPENING CUTSCENE.....and i quote /CORTANA:You have no idea how this ring works, do you? Why the forerunners built it? Halo doesn't kill flood, it kills their food. Humans, covenant, whatever. We're all equally edible. The only way to stop the flood is to starve them to death. And that's exactly what Halo is designed to do; wipe the galaxy clean of all sentient life. You don't believe me? Ask him. Are you done beeing stpd now? (yes the misspelling of being and stupid were intentional"

Do you even listen to the Cut-Scenes.

The Halos are activated and they kill all sentient life ( Everything Else except the flood ).

The Halos only kill the Floods food, I.E Everything else, but because the covenant and the humans are still alive now they can feed on us.

For goodness sake...

You two above, listen:
Halo does, in fact, kill the Flood's food, so that they starve to death. But they did survive somehow they still exist, alive, 100.000 years after the last activation. They should have died, in hunger...

Is that clear enough?
Now why?

Well technically the halos kill all potential flood hosts when activated not directly harming the flood spores, when the flood's leadership aka gravemind noticed that there was no more food the flood spores go into the state of hybernation for thousands of years before totally running out of energy and ultimately dying, but the covenant arrived early and let the flood out, offering (offering is not exactly the right term) themselves as a food source and saving the flood from doom.

when the halos are activiated, "they will wipe out all sentient life" stated by 343 guilty spark. sentient means something that posseses sensation. flood dont have sensation, they are numb, they are a parisite, therefore, they arent destroyed.

"My knee is bleeding, can I have a bandaid?" "Today its your knee, and in 10 years it'll be your wrists, why are you making this my problem?"

Do this again and I'll brand your ass with the banning prod

First of, the Halo's only kill The flood's food. After noticing that all their food was dead, they went into hybernation and waited untill the covie released them. And you know the rest of the story.

good lord people, here is the answer:

*343 GUILTY SPARK:
Why naturally the Flood is simply too dangerous to release, and mass sterilization protocols may again need to be enacted. Of course, samples were kept here after the last catastrophic outbreak...for study. It seems... that decision may have been an error.
