Subject: Why when someone bumps a thread, they say "bump"?

It is, but hiding it would be pointless it is pretty obvious when someone is just trying to bump their thread. Even then it really isn't a strictly enforced rule unless you do it multiple times.

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

Ah, but some people get vcreative and they link this GIF with the post.

I think its better when they just say bump, its more irritating seeing one person quote someone else a ton of times on each page to bump their thread. Your not fooling anyone so you might as well just say bump over and over

Isn't bumping against.forum rules?
Yep.
To me, any bumping validates a ban.

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

No matter how cleverly I bump my threads, they never reach hottopic.

My most recent warning was also for Bumping improperly, too.

Wrong on both counts. Under your theory, an OP like you could keep a thread alive infinitely long even if nobody else were to ever respond to it.

Any reply you make in a thread should be an on-topic reply to another user's post who posted after the last time that you did. This is the only rule of thumb we have ever given for bumping, and any post that is not within this guideline is most likely a bump.

Don't bump this thread anymore, please.

I know this is a minor thing, but I'd like to get it clarified. Now I was under the impression that:
A) Replying to a thread within a reasonable timeframe (3hr, 11min in the first post) is acceptable.
B) Replying to a "dead" thread with new information relevant to the topic is acceptable.

What exactly did I do wrong here? I thought what I did here was perfectly ok.

Es ist Zeit für einige Gefahr-pay

Your right. I propose every time someone bumps a thread they say "-blam!-".

But isn't bumping threads frowned upon anyway?

Their is a proper way to bump a thread? Oh wait bumping is against the rules. Also that really wasn't clever it was pretty obvious as I stated before no matter how you bump a thread it is obvious which is why it is pointless to do.

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

I'm curious. Isn't bumping against.forum rules? So why not just play itnoff and quote someone instead of pretty much showing everyone that you intentionally bumped the thread?

Yeah, it's quite strange, isn't it?
