What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

Nothing can be as generic as Halo: Reach's soundtrack.

Halo Reach was generic... Ha hahaha hahahahahahaha.

Yes let's hate it because it's not done by Bungie.
/Every argument against Halo 4 ever.

Simply stated, this.

The makers of Halo 4's music were far better off at making Halo 4's music than Marty would've been, nostalgia glasses removed from my face. I love Marty, but these two have made a score perfect for this evolution of Halo.

Did my post just go right by or something? I even compared it to other composers that can grab me in with their music. Like I said it has nothing to do with Bungie it just never grabbed me. Why is that so hard to understand?

I honestly think people on this forum just blindly hate on anything and everything involving Reach.

I got to his post and stopped. I didn't bother reading down, as the hatred for this game is pretty much unrivaled. As it stands, I don't know why you replied to me.

Even if the problem in Reach is removed they will still beat that dead horse. I still see people hating on Reach for bloom even though there are playlists that removed it, same with AA. Beat that dead horse they must.

;)

I second what the OP said.

117 is, without a doubt, the best.

  • 11.20.2012 6:03 PM PDT

Better luck next time buddy.

Belly of the Beast, 117 and Arrival, in order on the OST are my favorite. Other than that I must admit I'm quite disappointed with the soundtrack.

Not many memorable tracks

  • 11.20.2012 6:03 PM PDT

It's not quite as memorable as previous OST. It was also nowhere to be found when I was playing.

Because I disagree. I think Jeremy Soule would have done a better job at Halo 4 than Neil davidge. You are acting like it is all about nostalgia and that is why people hate it.

Edit: Also, I have listened to Neil Davidge music before from Clash of the Titans. I didn't like it either.

You, I don't like you.

I like all the music I've heard so far. Certainly not "Marty-ish" because the new guy is doing it, but I think it's good and like the direction he's taking the music. The music in campaign should've been cranked up though, you could barely hear it.

Uhm...it's not terrible.

It may sound different and lack a central theme, but it's fantastic nonetheless.

But I don't really care for other opinions.

Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

I agree. Notice how when movies are rebooted they use both chord progressions and even in some cases just redone versions of the old songs. Throwing out the old soundtrack and themes in exchange for a tracks of mood music was an idiotic move. It shows more than ever how 343i wants to get rid of Bungie's Halo in it's entirety. Anyone who thinks the soundtrack sounds like Halo needs to get their ears checked. Furthermore 117 was the only track that referenced the music of Marty (No I will not count the crappy remix of every Halo song in the credits), and it was not composed by Davidge. In fact in several parts of the game it appears Davidge literally used the tracks to other popular works, such as Star Wars. Even if he only did so in spirit they did not fit with the Halo vibe.

In closing Davidge is a composer who does not know what style he wants to write in. He flip-flops in style and theme with every track, with no real Halo 4 theme ever established. The only song I heard played more than once in the campaign is 117, which shockingly is not Davidges work. The fact that they needed to use Marty's songs in the credits clearly shows the lack of any slow theme music being built for Halo 4, or really memorable music of any kind. I could listen to any track from Bungie's Halo games and know which exact part it was played in. It was memorable. I can not say the same for Halo 4, and I know many others are on that same boat.

Gotta love 343i. <3 <3

If I ever see anyone post in a thread "That's your opinion", I immediately lose all respect for them.

Also, if you're discussing a topic with me and you resort to name calling, pull "life checks", or just call anything you don't agree with retarded without giving legitimate reasons, don't expect me to take you serious in anyway what so ever.

Opinions.

Opinions everywhere.
Whatever happened to the days where a man would say something and everyone else would decide for themselves what they agreed with and what they didn't agree with, and what was fact and what was opinion? There is no need to childproof the things we say by labeling every little opinion as such.

QFT

OT: I liked some of the tracks. 117 and awakening were some of my favorites, but some just screamed movie soundtrack. IDR the names, but there are points in the campaign were I was like "that's sounds like star wars music" or "king kong main theme right here."

The funny part is those moments were some of the only memorable ones, yet he couldn't sell them on the soundtrack because they ARE the themes to those movies/games.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

"Hi, ha, ha, ho, hi, ha, ha, ho... dududududu, dududududu, ha, ha, i, hi dududududu!!!" -__- That's a teenager with Cubase that is.

Completely disregarding the quality of Halo 4's soundtrack, I still think that they should switch composer for every game, it would be a lot more interesting that way. Give number five to God is an Astronaut for instance.

Stop arguing over imaginary -blam!-. May as well argue over Santa Claus. There will never be proof that there is/was a god - and before people start saying "HERP DERP PROVE THERE WASN'T ONE ROFLOLOL" well, you are the people who made it up in the first place so we know there isn't one
What created the big bang then? A coalition of genetically modified TR-909s with extra distortion?

I thought Halo 4 had the best soundtrack since CE/2 for me.

Most people I see complaining about it are just obsessed with flogging Marty O'donnells sack.

Or maybe it's just that we have a better ear for music. I don't know about you, but this song gives me chills every time I listen to it. It is a wonderful composition by one of the greatest entertainment composers. I know most of you don't know much about the actual theory behind composition, but it's more than an art, there is science to it. It makes the difference between the generic and feelingless music of Neil Davidge and the emotional themes of Marty. It's not a debate, it's just a fact of life.

I liked it, the only thing missing was the original Halo theme.

Cubase 5 didn't come with any of those as presets. And, well, I wouldn't be able to understand why anybody would even keep DAW presets.

I agree with the composer part.

"What's a team shoot and what's a wraith?!"
"It means we all shoot at the big blue thing together!"
"Okay!"

Pretty sure Marty just set an impossibly high standard.

Regardless, what I"ve heard so far isn't anything great
