I'm sorry OP but you're going to have to speak up because I can't seem to hear you over the sound of the Halo 4 haters slurping on Bungie's dick.
No. No. That's the sound of ignorance. I'm going to repost a series of posts with good game music in them. Notice that only one game is Halo. Regardless of the game it's in Davidge's music is just generic awful mood music.
If it's awful then why do I enjoy "Green and Blue" so much? and why do you people have to reject any new concepts that were in halo 4? seriously, anything that was changed you asswipes seem to hate on for no reasons other than "IT R NOT HALOZ NAO THT BUNGIE R NOT MAEK IT!!!" and "IT DUN FEEL LIEK HALO ANYMORZ" it's -blam!- childish how much you people hate on this just because it's not Marty making it, I bet if this music was made by marty the exact same way it is now you'd all be perfectly fine with it.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Nice that you agree on the mixing things around part though. Anyone you got in mind?I would like to see a much greater emphasis on ambient pieces. Maybe do something like Mirrors Edge where there was multiple people contributing to it.
Ah, maybe even Solar Fields then? I do like his work, lots of nice, crips, crystaline, sounds with smoth bass in the background.

That kind of music would fit very well with large desolate Forerunner areas. But the action scenes, what kind of music would that be? It would have to work well with the calm parts, can't be too high of a contrast.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

Look guy who ignores my post with links to good music in about 10 games. I know you think that you just beat him in an argument, but even if John Williams composed that -blam!- I would hate it. It is just a bad soundtrack, too digitalized, too muffled, too..gross. We're not bashing if because it's Halo 4, we're bashing it because it sucks. The rest of the industry realizes how to make good music, even COD, yet Halo 4 with all the funding in the world gives us this.

While Neil Davidge's work is tiers below anything of Marty's , I wouldn't call it "god awful". It's an average to substantially good soundtrack and it does its job.

It's very hard in this day and age to write and release a poorly orchestrated soundtrack. Professionally orchestrated music is a tough thing to make sound god awful.

I don't know about you, but this song gives me chills every time I listen to it. It is a wonderful composition by one of the greatest entertainment composers. I know most of you don't know much about the actual theory behind composition, but it's more than an art, there is science to it. It makes the difference between the generic and feelingless music of Neil Davidge and the emotional themes of Marty. It's not a debate, it's just a fact of life.

Don't forget about Jeremy Soule.
I will get -blam!- from the majority of this forum for this, but honestly even this is more memorable than the music of Halo 4.

and why do you people have to reject any new concepts that were in halo 4?
Has it occured to you that maybe this particular attempt to expand Halo actually was a failure, and that those who don't like it, very well could have liked anothet attempt to expand Halo?

Just because it is a change doesn't mean that it, out of thousnads of alternatives, is the right one, or that it is good. You seem to believe that openly embracing everything is some kind of uncontested virue, that by being tollerant somehow proves you more openminded and therefore mature, worthy of determining quality since your mind is less clouded.Posted by: Black Eagle X99What do you think of this?

I really liked some of the songs. Arrival and 117 just to name a few.

Ah, I see you prefer more "Pure" music with no techno aspects. you see, that's where we differ on opinions good sir, I grew up on techno so I can recognize the feel of the digitized music and you can't grasp the feel of the music, the halo 4 soundtrack seems to be more refined towards those with ears for techno as opposed to the previous soundtracks that were oriented towards classical ears, just my observations based on the negativity towards the soundtrack, in my experience of those who don't like the H4 soundtrack the majority say that it's too digitized and don't like it for that reason.

I do admit that those 10 tracks were indeed good, just not too much to my liking.

I know nothing of how sound is implemented and programmed into a game engine, but couldn't 343 have just evened out the levels so to speak? If the music is muffled because of gameplay, would a simple level switch make everything sound better?

Red vs Blue Fan. Doc is the best!

The only time I noticed it as during the fight with the Didact, and during the main menu. So I don't think it was amazing, but it's not bad by any means imo.

It's the way he edited it. It's the tracks themselves. Listen to one, it just sounds closed off. I have no clue why they decided to do that, but it kills what was already not too great. Also they recorded using actual instruments, why make them all sound synthesized anyway?

We all still hate Reach. I haven't seen a single person complain about Halo 4 forge not being Reach's. Thought that may be the one acceptable argument about it seeing as how everything else in Reach was -blam!-. Even its forge was -blam!-. Bad maps + bad gameplay = Bad forge. The Forgeing system was pretty damn good though.

No, I appreciate all types of music, expect country, and Halo 4 is just a bad soundtack. It's very simplistic, lacking any layering and distinction of different instruments. Having them all always play the same part sounds like poop. Every other game out seems to recognize that orchestration is a perfect cross between synthesized and orchestrated music. Halo 4 ignored that.

And yet I remember no one complaining about halo reach's forge not being like halo 3s, because halo reach was a step up, where as halo 4 is a step down.

Please stop pretending that every new halo game is a strait upgrade.

Halo 4 soundtrack, feels more like a MOVIE- based soundtrack than a Halo one...

You must not have been around very much. Complaints over the maps, color schemes, forge areas, limitations, how things fly through supposedly solid objects, how forging was too complicated... plenty of people complained about Halo: Reach forge.

It's a simple fact that kids will complain about anything they possibly can. The fact that Halo 4 is a fantastic game is evidenced by how there is no overarching complaint- people just keep nitpicking a bunch of things they personally don't like, despite the fact that many others do. This is the sign that a game is super.
