These are the pale deaths...
You know, not to break up the arbiter love in here, but I dont really like the arbiter. For one thing, it was a bit of a surprise to me, and not the good kind. When I happened to kill my entirte team for the first time, and found the last, cowering grunt, and he said 'why you do that, arbiter', I was like, 'What?', and then I noticed the fingers on my gun. From that point on, it seemed 'run away' instead of 'mow em down,' because the Arbiter was too alien a character for me to sypathize. Im one of those players who stops to teabag every elite i have the pleasure of mowing down, regardless of difficulty, or SP/MP, because I just dont like them.
(And then there is the whole bit about the Arbiter having the worser of the levels, and the dumb 'bossfights; Heretic Leader, First Sentinel Guardian, Tartarus....the scarab does not count, the Chief had no bosses. It didnt seem like the Arbiter's plot was well laid out, to be honest.)
I played Halo: Combat Evolved for two years waiting for Halo 2, and I learneed a certain vicious blood lust when it came to the elites, and so when I was expected to sympathize with them, I was disappointed. I just cant do it. I cant stand playing as him.
Now, I will admit, as an author, that his story is very, very intiguing, being the commander of the Covenant fleet gathered around Halo, but I cannot understand why they forced it upon us in such a way. It would have made a great game on its own, to play as the Elite Commander through the CE Campaign, and then fail against all odds, and become the Arbiter (an excellent addition to the Halo mythos) and have to fight humans (yes, have an excuse to kill those moron marines) until you meet gravemind.
Had bungie done this, instead of forcing two campaigns into one, we fans could have had at least another game in the Halo-verse, and, we could have experienced Halo:CE in high def, better structured goodness, because it would have undoubtedly come after Halo 3.
I respect the Arbiter's plotline for one reason only: It is relevant to the Master Chief's, and therefore it is relevant to both Halo games, I just didnt enjoy seeing a game as well thought out as Halo 2 being 'delluded' with more than one campaign. It would have been better for a whole serperate game.
Why do you guys want bungie to show new screens, videos, ect??? Honestly, a LOT of the stuff that they showed off in halo 2 was taken off in the retail version of the game, so why look at previews of the game that may not even be in final version? These screenshots also only add to more hype on the game. I feel that halo 2 was way overhyped caused by bungie showing the world videos, demos, and screens, only then to take out a lot of the features that were shown in the videos, demos, and screens, or change the features dramatically. I feel that if they dont show anything till the game is released, people may actually be more suprised on how good of a game halo 3 will be, instead of saying "oh my god, look at that gun... this is gonna be sweet." Then when you get the game, the gun you wanted is taken out and the so called weather effects, plasma beams, and grenades, dont do as much as what they showed in the videos or trailers. I feel bungie shouldnt show anything.
I have to disagree...when something ISNT given enough info, people feel suspense, and people like that. More people come, more people feel suspense, more people come, more people feel suspense, and so the hype builds around it, but it stays quiet, and then, BANG! launch day comes, and you think this forum was busy on announcement day? If bungie doesnt give us information, bit by bit, every ten year old male on this earth will be posting their play-by play review of the entire game, modders will be posting the things they discovered, jumpers will be posting their first crazy jumps, and campaigner experts will be posting every little easter egg they find from the shape X amount of rocks make, to the actual shape of the Ark Crater in relativity to the Master Chief's skull.
Silence, my friends, builds hype like nothing else. Look what their silence has already done.
