I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

I will break it down for you all, as I agree with the OP. The story is crap. It's generic, forced, and repetitive. I have had a desire to replay every Halo game many times, not Halo 4. I care about none of the new characters, and the ones I did care about are nothing like they were in the past trilogy. Chief doesn't stop talking through the campaign and Cortana goes from broken but useful AI to useless and annoying blue lady. The whole bit at the end with Lasky makes no sense "You don't talk much do you?", where did that come from? He never stops talking during the story.
Let's look past the armor canon and of course the Forward Unto Dawn remodel, which are too obvious to even be worth describing. Instead lets look to the music. How can any of you argue for a second that music like this sounds anything like this. Davidge's music is all over the place. I have no clue what the Halo 4 theme is supposed to be, my best guess is 117, seeing as it's the only song played more than once in the campaign. Sadly Davidge didn't even compose it.

Argue whatever else you will, but the rest of the industry seems to realize how to properly compose. Davidge holds no candle not just to Marty, but to anyone else in the industry. They had the biggest budget ever for a Microsoft game, yet the Halo 4 soundtrack sounds like it was made in garage band. It's synthesized to hell, and far too techno.
I agree Eagle, with everything you said here.
I just feel no spark from Halo 4. I've always felt a spark from all other Halo games, even Reach, that made me feel connected to the game, that made me want to go back to Campaign, that drew me into multiplayer. With H4 I don't feel this at all...
Halo 4 should have been like shooting fish in a barrel. It should have been the easiest game to develop and design based on the reaction to H1, H2, H3, ODST and Reach.
There is an enormous amount of info that can be learnt from those old games, what to do, what not to do, what could be improved, what works really well.... and so on.
And despite this we have a game with massive amounts of missing content, bizarre new game rules, poorly designed maps and a lack of attention to detail. It appears we are on the exact same wave of thought. 343i wanted to define themselves and they did, as the developer that divided the Halo fanbase.
