Seriously this site needs one. The Flood is being flooded (no pun intended) with so much Halo 4 crap that it's not even worth visiting anymore.

Thoughts?

You don't have to read them, you know.

  • 11.21.2012 1:55 PM PDT

The Flood already fills the role of a general gaming forum. You don't have to read the Halo 4 threads if you don't want to.

Yeah, but some people are too stupid to ignore.

You seem mad about something. I don't see how anything in my post was selfish.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Even the same title.

It may seem like a good idea to attempt to compartmentalize and segregate various discussions, but think about The Flood for just a moment.

Do you really think that the populace would willingly and gleefully allow their discussions to be segmented out like that? Any and all gaming into a new forum and all off-topic (but non-gaming) discussion in The Flood?

Sooner or later, the smaller you divide a population, you will end up losing the critical mass that drives and encourages people to participate, even in topics that they may have typically passed over.

If we were to make gaming discussion not permitted in The Flood, lock/warn people to post in some new forum, it would (IMO) stifle the dynamic of The Flood.

Not just me. The majority of the Flood wants Halo 4 discussion to be removed. 95% of it is just hating and complaining.

If that were true, Halo 4 topics would be drowned out by non-Halo topics.

Vox Populi. It works.

OP's poll disagrees, too, though I would be impressed if he provided statistics to back up his 95% claim.

46% less than 95% annually!

I do think that we should have a general gaming forum here, but at the same time, that's exactly where all the Halo 4 topics would belong which is what you said you want to avoid seeing.

  • 11.23.2012 4:44 AM PDT

Who am I?

mah twitter

The forum is filled with those threads because it's what the Community wants to talk about. If you don't like that, then just don't visit the forum. OR create your own threads about something else that you think people want to talk about.

You are the selfish one here, for wanting a whole new forum just so that YOU don't have to see certain type of threads.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

The flood is fine for general gaming discussion.

It's like a place where you take all of the left over miscellaneous things and dump them into one box called stuff, and general gaming discussion certainly fits into the stuff box.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Why not just a Halo 4 forum (with permission from 343i, of course)?

That'd defeat the purpose of the whole hiding the Halo Forums and attempting to move forward and not look back. Also, the only way anyone would use the Halo 4 Forum to the extent that it'd be worth creating is if it was added to the main Community tab, which makes no sense.
