I was just reading one really poor theory about the Ark that would have some religious significance when I thought of a new theory. I apologize if a similar theory has already been posted. I was contemplating if that metal thing buried on earth is indeed the Ark that it might offer some religious significance. For instance the Ark could be the only thing that could survive the Halos going off and obliterating the flood's food. Which is similar to how Noah’s ark was the only thing to survive gods similar cleansing in the bible. This also made me think that the Ark could have some sort of AI similar to guilty spark that might be called Noah or some other biblical reference. This also ties into the whole humans being forerunner theory because once the halos were activated (which the Ark was capable of remote activating) and all life destroyed so the flood couldn’t feed the surviving forerunner on the Ark knew that they couldn’t go back into to space for a long time to let the flood starve to death. So this explains why the forerunner would abandon their technology and keep its existence a secret to their future generations. The secrets would turn into myth and legend which is why many religions believe in a sort of great cleansing, and massive plagues. This would explain why humans were first found in Africa where this currently unknown metal thing is located.

God damn it i hate religious theorys

If they do involve another religious referance it should be The Ark of the Covenant, which obviously ties to the game, though its use wouldnt help anyone. It should be a weapon to stop the Halos, not protect you from them. If the forerunners made this african metal shiny thing, they used it as protection. The forerunners are most likely indirect ancestors to us, they probably made our species themselves.

In Halo 2 it says that the Ark is capable of setting off the halos which means I am sure it is also capable of stopping them as well. However if your theory is correct why would they make the Ark able to set off the halos at all if its primary purpose was to stop them.
