A new one? What happened to the other one?

The story had to be re-written as 343 went a different way with the plot for the game. Which is leaving us all entirely confused.

Man, that's got to suck for the author.

Mr.Bear: "I'm finally done the book! Now it's time to relax..."
343 Industries: "NO! YOU HAVE TO WRITE IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!"
Mr.Bear: *cries*

That's not true, unless grey can give a source, I'm just going to assume that he is jumping to conclusions due to the new cover.

Revisions did need to be made because of Halo 4, but they were merely revisions and improved tie-ins with Halo 4. The book didn't need to be rewritten.

Not sure about anyone else, but I didn't see him say that revisions had to be made. It just seems like he's saying the book is taking a long time to write because "Silentium has to fit perfectly" WITH Halo 4.

yeah, that's how I took it. He didn't necessarily need to change anything, he just had to ensure that his book fit in with Halo 4.

If he didn't know they were well-fit already, which he obviously didn't if he had to extend the release by two months, that means there were differences that needed to be tied up. Or, revisions.

Nothing major, I'm sure, but minor details.

Um, This is coming from the game seeing as it doesn't fit in with the novels. Notice how the silentium description about The Didact being left in a flood infected system magically disappeared after halo 4?

It fits fine with the current novels, the characters may seem off, namely the didact, but we don't know what happened in the years between cryptum and Halo 4 to give him such rage. 343 controls the canon, not Greg Bear, if what he is writing conflicts with what 343 wants to do, he should change it, otherwise everyone will get pissed at him, like what happened with Glasslands.

Looks very cool and now we have more info from Halo 4 about the Composer I am really looking forward to this book.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Good to hear something about the Forerunner trilogy rather than the Kilo-5 one.

Unfortunately, I just can't get into the newer story with the major changes 343i has brought about. It will be interesting to hear what new information this book contains though.

And what would these be in the Forerunner Saga, exactly?

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

I thought the Forerunner trilogy was boring as well, but I stuck through it for the sake of learning about what really happened with the Flood/Forerunners/Humans. Haven't gotten to Primordium yet, though.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I like the previous books' covers (in the trilogy) better. Landscapes offer more mystery.
Same here, but mostly because it's a kind of ruins the flow; landscape, landscape, close-up... Looks alright though.

I'm really looking forward to reading how Bear describes the events surrounding the activation of the rings! For me that's more or less the apex of the entire story.

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

- Albert Einstein

Hopefully it's more like Cryptum than Primordium. Cryptum properly balanced immersion and storytelling, whereas Primordium was quite literally tons of walking.

Regardless, excited to see how the trilogy will come to a close.

i don't understand this logic. Didact's story is still not complete in the Forerunner Saga. We don't know exactly how he ends up on Requiem, but it WILL make sense when all the pieces fall into place... i'm sure.

Make another book on the mating of forerunners?

Anyone? Guess not -_-
Don't worry brother, your not alone in your lust for a book on the mating of forerunners. Up until now I've only had my drawing to satisfy my needs, I mean curiosity for how these things work.

Major C.B.

Greg is so lucky I don't really care all that much about execution. I'll admit, some bits of the Forerunner Saga have been told really boringly, and it's been somewhat hard to read through it all. That said, it's a goldmine of brilliantly-crafted information. It's just not engaging - you've got to engage it. Once you do, you'll realize it's probably the best fiction Halo has. Excited for Silentium.
